Our government taking care of us.

Just another intemperment thought to ponder. Quite a few years ago the imperial government passed child labor laws. There were a lot of serious issues with kids working in dangerous places, usually at very low wages. So now there are no kids working in any places. There used to be apprentice programs where young kids learned a trade or craft. By the time he was in his middle or late teens, this kid had markatable job skills. After a while he became a craftsman. Seen any craftsmen around lately? Today its hard to find a teenage who knows how to operate a broom and dustpan We have kids sitting in mandatory government schools who are bored out of their skull, and will graduate with absolutely no job skills. Any time you see a law proposed with the words "child" or "children" in it, be very skeptical. Remember, they are smarter than us and just want to protect the kids.

There's a book you should check out related to this topic. It's called "Shop Class as Soul Craft". I got it in Vegas at the airport and it is worth a read.

The first 80-90 paes went slowly for me but when the author gets into personal stories (working on his own repairing motorcycles, etc) it gets real good.

To a certain degree our society has a "dumb" down effect.

You don't have to do that........ someone else will do it for you.

You don't have to think about what to eat or how to prepare it....go to the drive thru.

Our past generations had to work to survive. There was no such thing as a "free" ride as there is now with all the governmental handouts.

Teach your children LIFE skills, no matter what age they are. Our schools don't do it, yet our society expects them to know it all by the time they are of age to actually legally work.
