Some operators are slow in trying out new products in the merchandiser to enlarge the product offerings to their customers. We have one operator of 4 self serve wash sites that completely removes a car wash product from his merchandiser that is selling well and puts another product in its place. He will wait for a month (or more), then remove a different product from the merchandiser in a different area of the machine and return the previously removed product to the machine in a new spot. This forces the customer to explore all the product offerings looking for the one that was removed; if it is put back in the merchandiser in a different spot, it seems to hype sales for that product when the customer finds it again.
