Methanol Pump pressure

This may sound stupid but I am asking it anyway:

Higher the air pump pressure on my Flojets the more product.. Lower the pressure the less product?

Running a flow jet at 80 psi air for my methanol soap.. going through it like ccrazy.. just wonder what everyone else is using to get pressure out to the bays.. is 80 psi too high?

The FloJet will move the product with 20 PSI, but with lower pressure you increase the risk of the pump stalling. I'd keep it around 40 PSI and put an inline liquid regulator on the outlet if you want the pressure lower.

What controls the flow now? Do you have some timer system in place that purges the line, or is it a methanol soap?

I have the FB tied into my Dixmore it purges on set point B.

I do have a filter regulator on the unit.

My other wash I have set down to about 60 psi.. seems like I am not running nearly as much methanol. Could it be just a lower adjustment on the air?

What does you foam look like out in the bay, is it loose? I start with the liquid around 40 and air 35-40 to start. What size tip do you have in your meth soap?

I am mixing the methanol with simonize Superfoam.. a great product which I would recommend on HP Soap as well.

The consistancy is not hte best at 80 psi.. but I think customers are happy getting anything below 34 deg. I black tip the mixture.. Right now in the NE the weather / temperature forecasts are so sporatic.. it makes no sense to expose yourself with anything else but a black tip in a 501 Hydrominder.

Do you think going down to 60 psi from 80 will make a difference in amount of chemical being used?

Yes it will reduce you usage a little. How much Superfoam are you mixing with the methanol? If you adjust the system to give good foam out in the bay you will reduce the amount of soap you use.

If your setup is typical you should be able to run your foam brushes at a much lower operating pressure, 40-50 psi should be plenty. As mentioned I would add foaming solution if you look thin.

I run my winter FB at

Solution: 31 psi
Air: 21 psi

Also, I dilute the methonal soap 5:1. I find that actually uses LESS product than if I diulte 8:1 as the foam is thicker.
