Mars Mei VN 2702 Bill Validator

2Biz

Thread Killer!
I have a new Mars VN 2702 bill validator in a pop machine that is about 4 months old. It recently started acting up, not taking bills at all to only taking bills in half way then rejecting. No error codes flashing. Solid light on back of validator. After cycling on and off, the validator will start taking bills and giving credit. Coin changer works fine, no errors.

The bill validator has been working fine for a few days now, although I'm wondering what might be causing this? Finding any troublshooting help online is a waste of time. Theres not much out there. Since its new and has a three year warranty, I could send it in and get a refurbed one in return. But mine is so new I want to keep it if its a simple fix the next time it messes up....

BTW.. I Took the sensor out and cleaned it. But looked perfectly clean when I took it out. It has only been in service 4 months....Plus I have a plastic cover over the validator to protect from dust.

I don’t know why they’d use a VN2702 validator in a Pop machine. The VN2702 is a MDB $1 -$20 bill validator with the recycler capabilities. Take off the Bill box and check the Prism at the front bottom, it should be tight and flush with the bill box. It could also be a bad Upper sensor board. There isn’t anything you can do inside of it yourself, that’s why there isn’t much information on troubleshooting them on the internet. The Mars/MEI validators have a 2 year warranty on them. I’ve got a loaner if you need to use one while yours in for repair, should you decide to go that route.

I was thinking the same thing about the 2702? Theres no way you would need a pop machine to take $20's...Or even $10's. I'm wondering what they were thinking when they installed it. It was a $150.00 upgrade...

I'm not sure, but I might have found the problem...There was tension on the change return lever on the MEI 7512 CashFlow Coin Changer. I bent the metal arm up a little to relieve the tension. So far the validator has been working fine for about 5 days.

Thanks for the offer on the validator Randy, but I think I'm going to buy me a spare 2512 24v to have on the shelf. It only needs to read $1's and $5's...My can machine is only set up to take $1's...The bottle machine takes $1's and $5's....
