MA 800 rejects all coins

I have a multi-coin MA 800 acceptor in my vac that rejects all coins.

Took it apart; no coin jam.

Found the 'rake' that sticks out to reject a coin never pulls in. Duct taped it down so vac remains available for the customer.

But why would the rake stay 'out' and reject all coins?

Green led is lit on acceptor. Cycled power/checked wire connections~no change.

I just sent one in for repair for the same thing. The solenoid that pulls the gate open failed. Repairs on them are much cheaper than a new unit.
