Karcher home pressure washer

I have a Karcher K 5.70 MD Serial No. 012438 which I bought new and have used about 6 times, if that, to power wash my drive. After the second time I used it I found that the threads were damaged where the high pressure hose connects to the unit. I contacted Karcher regarding this but they were no help at all and I ended up having to purchase a new hose.

Today I got it out to power wash my drive as usual and after a few minutes use I noticed that the water pressure was dropping and that the noise from the machine was different. I stopped using it immediately and noticed a smell like burning oil coming from it. There was also some smoke which I assume was burning oil from the casing.

I certainly didn't buy this machine because it was cheap because it wasn't. I bought it because Karcher advertise themselves as the Rolls Royce of power washers. Well that is certainly not my experience so far! I'm not sure if this forum deals with the home machines but I was just hoping that someone had an idea of what may be wrong here. I'm assuming the smell is from the motor overheating but I can't figure that out as I understood it was water-cooled! I have contacted Karcher but so far they have not answered.

I bought one of their electric powered units at WalMart. After about 4 or 5 uses, the pump began leaking badly from a crack in the housing and I threw it in the dumpster.

We all know WalMart sells cheap junk. Just because it has a well known brand on it doesn’t mean quality at that store.

Unfortunately you didn't buy from their "Rolls Royce" line. You bought the Cimarron model from their Cadillac line.
