so my problem is that i have it set up for quarters and tokens but it will not see the tokens anymore but when i take it out of its place and have it in hand it works just fine. i dont see anything that would be different. quarters work just fine the whole time though.

You absolutely need to program the coins in the dark. If you program or test the coin acceptor in the direct daylight, the sensors will not read correctly. If you are in the shade, its not as picky. But you will only get good results if you program with the meterbox or cashier door closed, and test with the door closed.

it had been working for 6 months after i programmed it the first time. it just started wednesday

I had lots of trouble with them forgetting programming a short time after reprogramming. I would send them to IDX for repair. The service was slow and they were never fixed when I got them back. I stayed on that merry-go-round for a couple of years before I finally gave up on them and replaced with MicroCoin QLs. Do that now, you won't regret it.

I gave up with the IDX coin acceptors and have been tossing them in the garbage when they lose there memory. They are total garbage as far as I'm concerned. Like I.B Washincars said they " The service was slow and they were never fixed when I got them back"

I use Idx acceptors, been using them from the get go.Over 20 years , I like them and don't have any problems with service from Idx. I use quarters, tokens, dollar coins, loonies and toonies old and new. Maybe other peoples bad Karma affects their acceptors.

My experience is somewhat in line with Swampdonkey's. The reason "somewhat" is because we have kept about ten total (limited to dry indoors & no overspray on vacuums) actually in use. We replaced the "more wet" in our 6 self service bay use with Microcoin QLs. Not sure if most of their problems are related to moisture ... but if it is ... they should seek to solve the specific moisture issue problems IMHO.

The fact that their pulses are Form C Relay Output seemed to have helped us when we programmed our PLC DRIVEN 2 Room Touchscreen Self Service Dogwash back in 2009.

Not sure if they are still heavily advertising their newfangled payment system receptacles in the coin op laundry trade journals. For awhile they were going in that direction full speed ahead ... if I remember right.

The last coin acceptor I sent to IDX for repair they called me 7 months later and told me it was repaired. I told them to keep it, as I had already switched to another brand. I will never use IDX again. Seven month repair time is ridiculous.

so im looking into getting some MicroCoin QL Q7620-Ds. will they be able to be a direct replacment for my IDX x10s. like can i use the same metal cradle and just wire it in?

It should, the mounting between them should be the same. I've never tried putting a Microcoin into an IDX frame myself. The wiring is different, now you're using the yellow and black for power with one red/green wire combined with either the yellow or the black and the other to the coin input on the timer. You'll use the yellow and black in the same configuration and the blue goes where the second red/green went, the purple insulated.

You must be looking at the ones that are listed on Ebay, they don't have the wiring that comes out of the coin acceptor. I'm not sure that they are the same model that are used in the car wash industry. I'd buy the complete coin acceptor and replace the mounting frame, they are a little different.

Be aware of EBay MicroCoin QLs.
The QL is also used in the casino and vending markets with different specs and pre-programmed acceptance.

All QLs are 12vdc powered.
QLs for the car wash industry are supplied with the power inverter allowing 24vac operation.

Additionally, QLs utilize a specific mounting bracket. The bracket fits the industry standard CoinMech coin slot and return cup. The bracket also provides for “no tools required” to insert/remove the acceptor.

So does IDX. As I said, I've never tried, but they should interchange.
