IBA dryers

Hi all,

I'm in Australia and have an Australian built and manufactured touches machine called a Mr Magic Storm.

My question to you is, do the majority of you have dryers separated from your machine? In Australia the norm is to have them attached to the touches machine but this adds extra minutes to the wash cycle (my top option takes around 7 minutes!).

Thanks!

Most of the IBAs I see now have detached dryers for increased throughput and simpler overall design. I also think you can get a better dry with detached dryers as you have enough room. I have both setups and prefer the detached dryer setup.

Another benefit of detached dryers is that there is far less weight rolling back and forth on the machine. To me this equates to alot less wear and tear on rollers, bearings and gear boxes. I love my Superior free standing dryers. I've had the same ones since 2006 and have replaced one oscillate motor; that's it!!!

I have Premier Dryers with two center oscillators and they do a really good job, especially on taller trucks and SUVs. They're also relatively quiet compared to others.

We reloaded two Laserwash 4000 bays with Petit’s and Premier Dryers. The dryers replaced two old LaserDri units. We went with two 15’s for the top center and two 15’s with elephant trunks for the sides (60hp) and I’m pretty happy with them. However, I find them to be significantly louder than the LaserDri units! I actually surprised our neighbors haven’t complained.

Which oscillator option did you get and how well does it work?

I have four 15hp top producers, the two center producers oscillate, and 15hp elephant trunks for the sides. I think the oscillators make a big difference.

Do you have the electric oscillator that oscillates both blower housings or the air oscillator that moves blades inside the joined nozzle? I’ve never had the opportunity to see the latter and would love to know how well it works as I’m sure it’s retrofittable. I would link to Premier’s website if it didn’t suck.

Mine is electric.

Definitely less wear on the machine and slightly faster throughput however customers have no idea how to drive though our standalone dryers even with a 75 second countdown timer display. Onboard dryers are probably more effective but I would stay with off board dryers.

my razor is set to start the next wash as The vehicle begins to exit the bay. It definitely makes throughput about a minute faster which on a busy day makes a big difference. Since customers really value speed, it makes my wash seem faster to the customer. We offer a towel dry station at no charge that the customers can use themselves so any drips the dryers don't get they can wipe up with a courtesy towel.
