How long of a vacuum hose?

It depends on how you measure the power. There's airflow and vacuum (lift). You won't lose lift with a long hose, but you'll lose some airflow. With a 2" hose you won't lose an appreciable amount of airflow even with 50' of hose. I've never messed with 1 1/2" - hopefully an experienced detailer has tested different lengths on that size and can tell you more.
