how do the northeast seasonal changes affect your numbers?

hi - i'm looking at buying a carwash that has 3 avenues of income.
  • automated tunnel car wash (3 or 4 packages from $10 to $27)
  • detailing packages (full interior/exterior is about $150)
  • oil and filter change ($30 with free car wash)

In your experience, how do the seasonal changes affect each category listed above? the winters up here in NY state come with a ton of road salt.

thanks.

Having a carwash and detail shop balance each other out in New England. I used to own just a detail shop and would scratch for money and for detail work from January 15-March 15 every winter.

I built my carwash to balance out cash flow throughout the year. That is exactly what it does when winter cooperates (multiple snow events followed by plenty of dry days in between).

Good luck!

Can't speak for Lube biz, but carwashing in the North East typically, Jan to April is high season, April to Sept average and Oct to Dec slow. Of course all this is depending on weather. Last winter was slower than usual due to the never ending snow. This winter seems much better as it has snowed enough to get cars dirty, but followed by good strings of sun like we are getting this weekend.

Best of luck
