Help

Good afternoon

Im looking for some guidance from experienced car wash owners. I had a dream of purchasing a car wash since I was in my teens. Now im in my 40's and finally achieved that dream of purchasing a 3 bay self serve car wash.

I did all my due diligence, when through financials & spent 14 days over 3 months sitting outside the car wash that was for sale and counted the cars. In the purchase process I was provided with bank records and Exacta print offs. Everything looked good, my accountant gave me the thumbs up with no hesitations.

Issue is were slow, like 40% of the revenue of the previous operator who just opened the doors and emptied the change trays. in the first 4 months I have invested money to bring the location's mechanical up to par as everything was breaking from zero maintenance or care from the previous owner.

How do I drive sales, I have done community outreach and it just doesn't seem to be paying off.

Any and all ideas welcomed, please be nice as i sunk a large portion of my savings into this place.

The carwash business is hugely dependent on weather. Rainy they dont wash, calling for rain they may wash, too cold they dont wash, too hot they dont wash. Its a heat wave going on right now in my area and things are pretty slow. Use the time when your slow to clean and upgrade/update, or do the same thing your customers are doing and stay cool. I punched the clock at noon today and retired to the AC. The last 2 days i have stayed in the heat and made sure things were extra clean.

May and June have been challenging months for many car washes due to crazy weather. Rain, heat, overcast days are not good for encouraging people to wash their cars. Also, after you have made some noticeable improvements you may want to promote new owner/management so please excuse any inconvenience as we renovate and improve the wash.
