HELP!!! MY Refrigerator Isn?t Getting Cold

I?ve never been perplexed with this problem before. What I?m I to do. My refrigerator isn?t getting cold. In fact it?s warm inside. Could this be something simple? What could it be? I can hear the motor running.

You say it is running? Is the compressor running? are the fans running and the COILS clean? My coke machine will not keep the sodas cool if the coils are dirty of if the fan hangs up. Look at the coils on the back and the bottom. Look in the freezer compartment and make sure it is not too full and blocking the coils and fan in there. If the coils in the freezer are a block of ice. thaw it out and restart it will less stuff in the freezer... Some of it is probably years old any way. LOL

Normally the coils in the freezer are covered in ice, not allowing the fan to blow air into the fridge compartment. if this is the case usually the thermostat attached to the coils is bad ,or the heater around the coils is bad. Could also be the timer not letting the automatic defrost work.

If the coils are plugged up you can use a blow dryer to melt the frost ,and it will work for a few days.

Thanks Lag for the link
The coils are clean, the compressor runs, the fan runs and there's no ice on the inside.

Are the external coils getting warm at all? If not, either the compressor is bad (Not likely but it does happen) or it has lost its refrigerant charge.

Are you sure the compressor is running? Feel it with your hand to see if its warm.
If its hot, a common problem is the start relay.
Also do you have a ammeter to measure the compressor start and run amps?
How old and what brand is the refrigerator?

Occasionally the valves will go bad in the compressor or it will loose the refrigerant,
if so the compressor will run and start very easily.
I used to service appliances. Call me if you want some more ideas 614-538-1370

I had a frig with a cold air duct in the back. It iced up on the inside making a damper not open. let your frig thaw out. If it starts to work, it is either the damper or control. Mine was a heater at the damper, it was burned out.Good luck
