Green Clean Car Wash - False Hype & Hysteria

ScottV

Upstate NY
Is anyone else appalled at the marketing approach taken by Green Clean Car Wash? I recently received the April 2012 issue of PC&D only to find that I have been killing people (mainly women) by spraying them and their cars with deadly, poisonous, cancer causing chemicals.

Is this really the right approach to take? Spreading misinformation about an entire industry just to create your little niche market? I guess I'm as disappointed at PC&D for allowing such an advertisement to run in their magazine.

“Is anyone else appalled at the marketing approach taken by Green Clean Car Wash?”

I’m not appalled by anything in the carwash industry anymore. The last several years has proven that it is practically every man for himself.

“Is this really the right approach to take?”

Negative campaigning, character assassination and bashing are stables in politics and have become increasingly more frequent in business due to shrinking markets, less demand and increased competition.

“…. I'm as disappointed at PC&D for allowing such an advertisement to run in their magazine.”

Mostly likely, someone from PC&D would explain that it cannot discriminate unless ads contain stuff unacceptable to reason such as profanity, nudity, etc.

As for proof of falsehoods, this typically occurs after the fact and doing so can be difficult.

For example, you can search the web and find both operators and equipment manufacturers of touch-less who claim in their advertisements that friction washing scratches paint.

As for the OEM in Racine, I cannot disagree with approach of using cotton and water to wash cars without soap. I haven’t used soap to wash my cars and motorcycles at home for over twenty years. I use cold water and a sponge and over the last several years I switched to microfiber cloth.

Of course, I always have a good coat of wax on my vehicles so the soap-less washing doesn’t result in marring the paint.

As for proving him wrong about claims of causing people harm via dangerous carwash chemicals, have at him. However, you may find this to be a slippery slope.

For example, consider the number of car washes that are still using and bathtub blenders that are still making products containing high concentration of HF and ABF.

Mr Roman:

I hope you realize that you are in the extreme minority if your car comes squeaky clean with cold water and a microfiber cloth.

If I had to guess, I'd say that less than 1% of all 'everyday' vehicles would come clean with a cold water hand wash sans soap.

Just saying...

Depending on the conditions, I find it very difficult to get cars clean even with using the best soaps and equipment in the industry. I'm pretty sure this company is also the one that sued everyone they could in the industry over the use of the word "Wax".

LOL, I’m in the extreme minority when it comes to a great many things, I’m use to it. I guess that’s my nature, as a maverick.

Cleaning certainly does depend on conditions. For example, when I operated washes years ago, I once had a customer where we had to wash her car by hand using general purpose cleaner and scrub brushes. Her car was severely oxidized and not washed for nine months.

Want proof, take a trip to Racine and have your car washed with cotton and water and see for yourself.
