Good Idea to Add Vacuum next to Gas Station Car Wash

Hello,

I own a gas station with a single automatic car wash. Moderately trafficked area.

I am thinking about adding a JE Adams 9200 commercial vacuum on the property. What is a ballpark figure I can expect for gross revenue from the vacuum? Not expecting a ton, but just wondering before I make the investment. Wanting to add another service for my customers and a small additional revenue stream. Thank you!

It depends what you plan to charge. I can guarantee you that a single vac by a car wash at a gas station will certainly pay for itself, and once it has, you will have a very low maintenance revenue producing machine. Not sure what you charge for a wash, or what other vacs are charging in your area, but around me, it is rare to see 5 minutes of vac time for less than $2. I’ve seen several gas stations with air/vac machines that charge $1.50 for five minutes of air (tire fill) and $2.00 for five minutes of vac. That might be a consideration for you. I have not seen these machines at car washes, but many of them at gas stations, and I think a lot of people expect to be able to fill their tires at a gas station, but not necessarily a car wash. Whatever you do, make sure it accepts credit cards.

Hey Washnshine,

thanks for the response.

I would say $2 for 5 minutes of vac is typical by me. I like the idea of combo air/vac machines. Do you think 30 mins of vac use a day is good estimate?

I agree on making sure to accept credit cards. I was looking at the Nayax reader. Do you have a brand recommendation?

Thanks.
