This wasn't a breakdown per se, but an annoying vendor display issue that made it difficult to read. It's a relatively young thru-wall, LM30 and I just thought the LED display crapped out. Ordered a new board (ouch!) Discovered this - six years of sunlight and LED heat damage to a plastic film protecting the touchpad and display.
Ran a piece of film through my laminator, cut in thirds, punched six holes and Voila!, good as new. Two spares in the file cabinet.
