Does anyone know what causes quarters to fall through the discharge slot of the commonly used GinSan Sensortron coin receiver with a Dixmor LED 7 display.
There is a properly seated modern quarter in the spacer point and the display appears to be working ok.
The quarters just started falling through.
Thank you.

The unit is probably bad. You can narrow down the problem, look at the wires that go to the pickup coil (It's right by the sample coin, should be two gray wires). They can get damaged and it won't read the coin. Also try holding the gate open while you drop coins through. If it registers the coin pulse, the solenoid has failed or the wires could be damaged. You likely won't be able to repair any of this since the wires are too short to splice and usually get broken at a point you can't do anything, but GinSan can repair them. I toss 'em and replace with Slugbusters which are cheaper both to purchase new and repair.
