Frozen Wash...Need a new valve...advice please

My N.O. valve stuck last night and the whole wash froze up. Took the valve apart and the seat had begun to corrode, so to make a long story short, I need a new valve...advice?

Or this one?

The valve I am replacing is probably the original one that was installed...crazy thing is that it gave zero indication that it was an issue...

Quick responses would be appreciated since I have to get this overnighted...thanks.

I use the Dema valve on all my weep systems Have not had any problems with them.

Randy always recommends the SA218 valve. I have used it and it seems to be reliable. I have not used the other one so I don't have any input it.

You can take the guts out of the valve you have now and just let your weep run constantly. This will keep you from freezing while you get a new valve.

Interesting point. When NC fail they often stick open so the failure is easy to spot.

NO typicaly has power and is closed. So, it may very well fail stuck closed. The only way to know would be to kill the power to it a few times a season, at least in the beginning of the season to make sure it's working.

I don't know if you noticed, but the Asco you linked is 24V, the Dema is 120V.

I like the Dema. I've had no problems with the 47x series sticking open or closed. The seat is stainless and won't wash out. The coils never fail. The diaphragm kit is cheap to replace.

In the title it is clearly listed as 24V, but in the specs below it lists 120V. Looks like someone at K/R was asleep at the wheel.

WOW! 15.9 deg. With a high of 25 deg. unthawing a car wash sounds like fun to me. I’d go with the ASCO, 20 plus years with no problems. Whose valve do you installed have now? Is the Weepmizer cycling the solenoid valve? Can you hear the solenoid valve click?

Yeah, I was out there all night trying to thaw it out...no dice, too cold and way too windy...Threw in the towel when I finally had to come to work this morning. I have no idea what valve I have now, it looks like a DEMA but has no rating plate. I ended up going with the DEMA only because I intend on using the Polar Freeze Guard System next year to hopefully alleviate all this crap.

As far as hearing the valve click, I don't know...too cold for any cycling to occur The only reason I noticed that something was up was because the pressure gauge was reading zero and the output light on the Weepmizer was off...

If you are not getting a light on the weepmiser output light you may have blown the fuse on the weepmiser. It is located on the bottom of the weepmiser. I have had both asco and dema valves fail on my weep systems.
When thawing out your bays first take all the lines down from the boom out to the gun and put them in the equipment room to thaw. Work on just getting the water flowing from the heated trough out to the boom. Trying to do all of it at once is a loosing proposition.

My weep valve (Dema) quit working this week too...Lucky for me it stuck open. Same night though, one of my bay guns quit weeping. Froze the bay. I took the lines down clear to the center union and put in the equipment room. Then took a heat gun and thawed the swivel union. Water started weeping again in about 10 minutes. Replaced the gun and good to go for now. Ordered the Asco Redhat 8210G35 from KR and got it in today per Randy's suggestion. Will put in tomorrow. First freeze up...Not too overwhelming....

My Dema was 24v. Switched to 110v to take transformer out of the equation. Another suggestion from Randy. It only makes sense! Thanks Randy!
