I purchased the Flex XC 3401 buffer this summer and like it very much so far.

Its motion is opposite of my rotary buffer, so it takes some getting used to.

However, I was pleased at the results I got when buffing out some 1500 grit dry sanding scratches I made when evening out some hand-touchup paint I had applied.

This is definitely a machine that takes practice, but the results are well worth it, IMO.

I can't see polishing out sand scratches like that with a drum style buffer (which I was close to buying before I got the Flex).

Wax, Can you give us a detailed description of the products and procedures you used to buff out those scratches?

If you think the Flex is good, the Rupes is tons better. 21 mm of throw ftw...

Update:

Love the Flex. One complaint; the top handle (near head). When you bear down, the handle snaps forward and pinches your fingers. OUCH!!!! You snap it back into place and continue, but this is a design flaw that needs to be remedied!!!

As far as the Rupes; yeah I have heard of it but after spending all the $$ on the Flex I am in no hurry to upgrade. Besides, more throw is not always better and that depends on what you are polishing.
