Enclosure/Box for LED7

Anyone know of a box/enclosure for the LED7? I want to install/use the LED7 for my vacuums but the control box is too small to fit the LED7. I thought I'd simply attach a small stainless box onto the side of the vac control box that would display the LED7.

Thanks,

That almost sounds like something your going to have to have custom made. 2Biz installed LED-7 timers in his small vac coins not long ago, I think he used a shoe horn to get them installed, but he did it.

There was an early credit card system that had a box for mounting on the side of a vac. It was called e-something, had a box inside about the size of a LED-7. The system was terrible and I'm sure by now they've all been removed. Maybe someone has the boxes and would sell them cheap.

I'll check with Dralco tomorrow and see if they already have a box like that, or what it would cost to have them made.

Thanks for checking and the info. Seems to me with all of these small-box vacs in use that there would be interest in a box add-on that would be for the LED7 or a box that would fit a LED7 and Cryptopay combo. Laurel Metal makes a small box for the Cryptopay but nothing bigger. Neither Laurel nor Dixmor sells anything nor is showing interest of making one.

They're 30 year-old Doyle vacs. Don't know the box dimensions but I'll measure one tomorrow. The boxes aren't very big and they require little fingers to get in there.

I have the same vacs, switched them over to LED7s a year or 2 ago.
Etowah valley made custom face plates for me, very reasonable price.

Do you remember the price of the custom faceplates? I ordered 4 new plates from Doyle so I could have time to get the machining done and install all at once. I think they were $45 each.

The old Doyle vacs, like ours, are 6 inches wide and 10.75 tall. Small. Dixmor and Laurel Metals have both told me they can't help in making an LED7 fit nor do they offer an add-on enclosure. I'll try Etowah Valley and see what they have.

We use Microcoin QL's and I can't see how an LED7 would fit in there with the limited space.

In case you didn't see the link. I don't know how much bigger, if any, the Microcoins are compare to the sensortrons, but it will fit!

Also is the only difference between the 6 and 7 the mounting option?

The LED 6 and 7 are very different. The 6 has more options including bonus timing, a completely different mounting and is wider, shorter and deeper, and a dot-matrix display. As a straight-up bay timer they function the same.

I did something similar to what 2Biz did - the plate may be wider since I didn't have to hang the timer over the edge of the acceptor.

Wow, that is tight! A MicroCoin is a little bulkier than that Sensortron. I doubt that you could squeeze the LED-7 in there. Possibly, if a new door was made, maybe the coin mech could be moved over to the left a little? The coin drop hole would probably need to be enlarged if you went that route.

I think the simplest way to do it, would be to tell 2Biz it can't be done.;)

MY LED 7s have Bonus time. I think the 6 can be used for a combo vac, but not the 7, is that correct?

Yea, It took a bit of measurin' and calculatin', but I must have been up for the challenge!

That Microcoin fits in the same size frame and doesn't look any thicker than the Sensortron...I bet it will fit!
If you modified the faceplate back stop, you could pick up another .25" to move the Timer to the right! LOL

I Wasn't sure from memory if the LED7 has bonus time.

Only the 6S has the combo vac options so it can directly replace the timer in Coleman vacs where the timer controls the selections.

2biz: thanks for the photos and the description. I'm going to do it as you show and describe. There isn't much room in there that's for sure.

2biz: You say you put the transformer up under the dome? You ran the wires into the main body of the vac and then up through the top?
