Dryer options....

Gentlemen,

I am in the process of deciding which dryers to buy for my new two bay IBA.

I've decided not to go with on board dryers because alone they do not do a sufficient job, IMO. I saw a new place being built today, that had a onboard dryers and a stand alone after it, and that seemed redundant.

I've been interested in the Aerodry, and i was wondering if you had any experience to share using air cannons over a Aerodry or Similar concept dryers with cones or aprons on it to direct air flow.

Thanks.

This is one of those things that we as owners can sit and calculate and come up with what we think is a great system. Then you watch customers actually drive through them and just beat your head against a wall. While it's true, somewhat, that a stand alone can do a better job, it demands that your customer drive through correctly to get the intended results. You will just be amazed at the number of people who will drive till the air hits the windshield, and then just STOPS till it's over.

IMO, the customer is then responsible for the results and won't blame you if its not right.
In a perfect world that would be true, but you and I both know that some people will expect a completely clean, shiny and dry car when they buy the top wash package, and many will never see that it's their fault when they misuse equipment.

The efficacy of on-board vs. stand-alone dryers should not be the major decision in choosing which system to use. The name of the game is throughput. If you can you load a new vehicle while another is being dried, stand-alone is the way to go. It drives me crazy when we have a stack and the new vehicle waits for the prevoius customer to clear the dryer.

Unless you are in some kind of crazy market situation, I can't imagine redundant systems because of 1) the initial equipment costs and attendant maintenace issues and 2) the energy costs.

Just my 2 cents worth.
