what's been the latest with people's experience with the handhelds? i remember seeing Mister Car Wash in lubbock using them 3 years back. have the devices gotten better? is it worth the $4500 up front cost and the yearly module cost? i have a full serve that on the weekends gets busy and I'm trying to make things easier for the ticket writers. thanks guys.

I've been using them for about 10 years now. My wash is an Express/Full-service combo. I was able to eliminate the cashier position at my wash and still process the full-service customers. I like that using them still enables the customers to have a person take and process their transaction. Overall the handhelds have been great. Over time DRB has improved the functionality to a great degree. The main thing you have to do is make sure you install the WAP in a place that ensures you don't have any dead spots.
Thanks jon. Of the two handhelds, the touchscreen that looks like an iPad vs the one that uses a stylus, which one is your preference? The portable printer on the waist doesn't seem robust or fast enough to do the job. so is the workflow for a full serve customer: go to the customer, go to printer, than go back to the car. I'm not sure I would want to eliminate our cashier -- our gift shop brings in $300-$600 a day and keeps our customers occupied while their car is getting completed. Our cashier isn't really a cashier; she's the barista, gives away water and asks people to follow us on instagram etc. looks cute and acts friendly, answers the phone --- it's really a command and control center position for both the car wash and lube express
