Ditching Hot Wax

Car Wash Man

We are thinking of ditching our hot wax this winter, and putting in a ceramic in its place but not advertising it as a ceramic. Reason why is that when we run the hot wax followed by the ceramic the cars have a weird rough feeling like they are reacting with each other. Has anyone ever done this in the past, by having two different ceramic running at different levels. Our top wash we have Simoniz Ceramic, but was thinking of running a more cost effective ceramic such as JBS or Klee rites Hyper line in the hot waxes place. Has anyone done this? Also can anyone give their two cents between JBS Ceramic Tropical and Kleen-Pak Hyper ceramic?

I would look into graphene and then you can advertise it as a special chemical that protects from scratches and even charge more and people seem to really go for it…….oh and it works really good and bonds well and stay on better

JBS has a several ceramic options including a regular ceramic, high foaming ceramic and triple foam with ceramic. I wonder if you could use the yellow foam glo ceramic in place of the hot wax. I too would like to eliminate the hot wax. Curtain never looks as good as I want it.
I’ve removed my ceramic and replaced it with Graphine for $5 extra.

Eric, how much you charge for your top wash? We are sitting at $15 top wash with ceramic and graphene. That is in line with what everyone else is charging in our area.

I’m at $18 for the top wash it that has triple foam and hot wax. The customer can add Graphine for $5 and bug off or salt neutralizer for another $2. So, my top wash with both buy ups is $25.
I only offer 3 washes. I’m debating on adding another package at $27 or doing a monthly special with a price point a dollar or 2 higher than my per car average.

I originally had Simoniz Hot wax on my washworlds for years and then went to JBS glow foam yellow PC. Both worked well but occasional little yellow specs from the foamnflow on the cars and some dried soap spots around cars . Today I tried JBS Ceramic Glow foam instead on the Graphene package. It Worked a thousand times better, almost no spotting and no little yellow specs, nice smooth shine. Costs a little bit more per 5gal pail but I was able to tip change from Pink 91:1 to Aqua 134:1 on old school blue hydraflex threaded injector. I like what i see so far.

I use Simoniz and here was my progression as the newer chemicals became available.

I started with Hot Wax on the top wash when that was the best chem they had. Added ceramic to that for the top wash when ceramic came out - never had a problem with them reacting. When Graphene came out, I added that to the top package and replaced the hot wax with UVP triple foam - but just as a single foam with one color - the yellow. So the second from the top package is UVP yellow and ceramic and the top package adds graphene to that.

Simoniz also has a foamy hot wax option that is yellow and lemon scented but does not contain carnauba. That might be a good replacement for you if you want to stay with Simoniz.

I switched recently from rain x to a graphene infused ceramic. It's pretty good. One chemical instead of two so im keeping room in my top package when TITANIUM comes out next year!
