I'm happy to report that I won my recent case in small claims court. I was taken to court by a customer from our detail shop. He said that the detailing we did on his Toyota Camry caused the radio controls to malfunction. I believe I won the case by preparing very thoroughly. I found evidence online through message boards of similar problems with similar vehicles. I found technical service bulletins from Toyota discussing this very problem. I spent a few hours preparing; looking up information, printing out documents, writing a narrative and typing it up. I had my detail manager come with me to court and he was helpful as well. To be fair, the plaintiff did a very poor job in preparing his case. The only evidence he had was some service receipts from two different shops both of which stated that the problem did not exist when the vehicle was brought to the shop. court takes a lot of time because in small claims in my area you have to sit and wait for all the credit card deadbeats to process through the court before the clerk magistrate hears cases like mine. Then it took another month for the decision to be mailed to me. But I'm happy with the result and I am glad I chose to thoroughly prepare because I think that really helped me in court. I think the other thing that helped me was that I was very calm and composed in court.
