Cleaning my washer and dryer

I made the mistake of washing all my towels together including the ones with tire shine. I have bought all new towels but want to make sure the washer and dryer are clean before I start using them. Is there a degreaser out there that I can use?

Simple Green is a nice, safe and effective cleaner I'd feel good about using in my washer. You want to use hot water and run a few empty loads is what I'd try.

Any decent all purpose cleaner in a strong solution should do the trick. If you have the option I would use hot water. When the cycle completes run and additional cycle without detergent. It is not a bad idea to do this process occasionally to clean the washer.

An ammonia-based cleaner will break down the silicone. I wash my cleaning towels (some of which I pick up around the wash that were bought from the vendor and used with tire dressing) with 1/2 cup of the Pro-Force disinfectant cleaner with ammonia along with 3 scoops of plain Tide powder. It gets them clean.

Degreasers don't do much on silicone.
