Cat Pump Head Eating Valve 'O' rings

All,

I have a cat pump 5cp2120w that is eating valve 'O' rings daily. The valve sleeve seems to be scratched. I changed the pump, but is there some way I can fix the old one's scratches...or is it junk!

It's probably eroded - the original 5CP2120W has a lifetime warranty and will be replaced by Cat. If there's an R stamped on one of the humps on the manifold, it's been replaced already and won't be warrantied.

www.dynajet.com or Vilco Supply in Tennessee can machine out the head and press in a stainless steel seat to repair it. I've been told they do the packing and valve areas, which in theory would be a permanent repair and the manifold will never wash out again.

Bigleo,
I believe the Cat 5CP pump has a lifetime warranty. I think I'd contact my distributor and see about getting a warranty exchange before I spent any money on getting repaired. I'll check with my guys.

Just got a rma from Cat...I'll ship them the old, they'll ship me a new one.

Thanks again for all the good posts!

Only the original manifold on the 5CP models ending in W have a lifetime warranty. None of the other parts are covered.

Bigleo, you'll want to remove everything from the head before you send it, because you won't get it back from Cat. You'll receive only a bare manifold.
