carpet cleaners and their waste water

There can be some pretty nasty stuff coming off carpets and I think this guy knows that. He seems to be too lazy to look for a sanitary dump site like someone pointed out. It is people like this that make this business tougher than it should be. Not sure that signs do a lot to stop it. Security cameras might help identify culprits. Since it is almost impossible to stop this has anyone here offered a reward to customers that report dumping like this? Maybe it might give guys like this something to think about before they dump their tanks into the wash.

Basically the problem with Self serve car washes is the general public’s perception is anything goes or they think they can do whatever they want when they want because no one is around to say “NO! You can’t do that here”. They bring their household garbage, wash out the bed of their trucks with oil soaked hay, change or drain their oil in the bays, carpet cleaners who dump waste water, customers who dump used tires etc. at the car wash. Then they are peeved when they learn that it is not acceptable to do these actions. Little do they know most of the time they are on video and when they are caught we take legal action against them.

You nailed it. It is the mentality that I can do what I want when I want.

Was with a SS a self service operator and he caught two guys changing and engine in one of his bays. They had the portable hoist and were ready to go when he shoo'd them away.

Last I saw they were pushing the hoist down the street engine dangling from side to side.

I was behind a carpet cleaning van the other day that was dumping their water onto the highway while they drove. That was not the first time I've seen that.

That is a clear violation of the Federal Clean Waters Act.

Why is it okay for one indusrty to blatantly break rules while another (like ours) is held to a high standard?

It's bogus. I'm not the type to drop dimes on people but that gets me mad.

I notice that there has been no further response from Mr. Carpet cleaner. Guess he has had his comeuppance or is now to embarrassed to say anything.

Dang, I thought I would get him to lt me use his truck as long as it didn't cost him anything.

Years back with full service gas stations a guy pulls in and asks my dad to check his oil. My dad does and it needs a quart. The guy goes to the trunk and pulls out a quart and asks my dad to put it in for him. My dad tells him that they only put in products purchased at the Station.

The guy says "but I bought gas here!". So, my dad asks;" Would you buy a cup of coffe at the restauarnt and hand them two of your raw eggs and ask them to cook them for you?" The guy says "You sell eggs here."

I've got his cell phone number. Should I call him and set up some appointments for him come clean our carpets.

That'd be great to hire him to clean up a gallon of spilled paint, then call the EPA and tell them he intends to dump it in a car wash pit.
