I have cameras at my wash but who here has regular cameras as well as licence plate cameras if so how well do they work? I had a incident here last Friday where a duelly came through our softgloss tearing out the right side wheel scrub costing us $1,135 in parts and lost day of washing we got the video but the licence plate is unreadable we thought he used a credit card but after reviewing all of the transactions we came up empty so we are looking at www.carwashcameras.com at their tagshot camera which are $699 a camera not bad considering if I had one installed that day I would still have $1,135 in my account.

My tag cameras get tags around 75% of the time. They can be adjusted to work better in daytime or night, make them work better at night since most of your troubles will happen then.

My results are about like Red's, maybe a little better capture rate. I looked back at my expenditures. In 2007, when I converted a SS to automatic, I spent $1100 to add a bay camera for the automatic and a tag camera. As I recall, I originally tried a lesser priced camera to see how it would work knowing I would probably need a second one for the drive. I bought a better camera for tags than the one I had and pointed the old one at the entrance side of the driveway. I seldom capture tags with the original camera. The better camera works pretty well. Night time is more difficult for me to capture tags.

License plates

I'm pretty pleased with my license plate capture rate.

Daytime is 100%, nighttime is maybe 90%.

Bosch ltc0630 camera with 1/2 inch lens. Set the shutter speed for either 1/250 or 1/500. The default is 1/60 and you must change it to get good capture at night.

I bought the housing from Bosch also and it is a very high quality unit.
