Blowdown Question

Red Baron

My new IBA is about 34' from the ER. I assume they put the blowdown manifold also 34' from the ER to shorten the time it takes for chemical to get through the hose to the car after blowdown. The downside is that my hoses are freezing in the attic because they remain full of water for the 34' up to the blowdown manifold.

Suggestions?

Build a plywood box to enclose the lines running thru the attic. Line the box with 1" rigid insulation. Using a squirrel cage fan (such as a Grainger 1TDN4 or 1TDN6) controlled by a thermostat reading attic temp, blow equipt room air thru the box by running flexible dryer venting from the fan to the end of the box. The fan can also be placed on a simple on-off switch if you want.
