Bird Deterant

I've heard of a lot of different methods, but really haven't tried much. Seems spraying them with the wand doesn't really work well. :)

I thought about enlisting the services of a cat and putting it in the attic, but didn't want the smell.

I'm interested in what has worked for others.

I need some help too. I cleaned out all of the nest, applied a sticky product from Bird-X. The birds built nest right on top of it. It was a pain to clean the nest out the next time because it was all sticky. My wife hung their (Bird-X) sign in the E-room, it says "Who's smarter you are the birds?"

It's the pigeons that really hate anything sticky on their feet. Sparrows are smart enough to lay stuff right on top of it.

Your best bet is to block off any place they can potentially build a nest. Something as simple as a ball of chicken wire to keep them out of openings and off of ledges will work.

MEP is probably right, just fill all the gaps with something like wire or wood. I've been told the expanding foam doesn't work for they just tear into it.

I don't know about birds, but a rag soaked in diesel and stuffed in a corner will keep wasps away for months. Might work for birds too.

Have you tried one of those plastic Owls. I use them around my cats food dish and it seems to keep the birds away.

They chew right through the spray foam!!! BUT if you put a thin layer of morter over the foam they will stay away. The morter adhears very well to the foam. I had the owls! they didnt work for me, and they were a target for the kids to destroy! the foam morter worked the best for me, but it seems no matter how many things you seal up they find more holes I never knew were there. Its a never ending battle with a 45 year old building!!
