Backflow Devices

This is General information for owners in all states. It pertains to the testing of any and all backflow devices. All backflow devices are to be inspected by a state certified inspector. Most states are generally requiring a once a year inspection. Our state of Indiana requires inspection every six months on RPZ devices. Most States department of Environmental Managements are now pushing all water purveyors to require the periodic testing be done to comply with the Clean Water Act. Thought people should know so you may check with your water provider.

In Missouri they send us a notification each year that it needs to be tested. They also send a list of certified companies who provide the service.

I have washes in 3 different municipalities. One sends us a letter each year requiring the test, the 2nd one doesnt seem to care, and it appears the 3rd one doesnt even know what an RPZ valve is!!

I have all 3 tested annually and file the paperwork just to cover my a*s.
