Average Man Power for a wash

I have a 2 bay ss and 1 bay auto wash. I own a repair shop basically 2 doors down from the wash so its easy to keep an eye on it. I am thinking of selling the wash and I am wondering how many hours a week on average it would have to be manned ? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure about the logic of your question. I am assuming that once you sell the wash the the new owner will not have the luxury you have to watch over the wash like you are able to now. If you are asking how many hours do you need an attendant on duty I think the answer is completely discretionary. I have gone years without any attendant but I think that it hurt me in many respects. In my opinion keeping an attendant on duty during peak times, in many cases that will be friday, saturday, sunday, for an 8 hr shift is sufficient. Then two hours a day while they do their routine clean ups the rest of the week works for me. An attended wash will put out better numbers but is an owners choice as to how many hours will make it effective.

It's tricky. My detail shop is a few feet away so we are here 6-7 days a week. Still much of our time during the busy carwash season is spent at the carwash; cleaning, making change, helping customers use the auto bay, emptying garbage, re-stocking vending, chemicals, doing repairs, ordering parts, etc.

If you want good results from this type of carwash, staff it during your busy periods and keep it clean/fully functioning. How many hours/week is yours to calculate to accomplish what I said and how busy it is is the main factor.

Why don't you start keeping track of your own hours that you must 'attend' the place and go from there?:o
