Any Good Credit Card Offers Out There

I was 2 hours late paying my personal credit card on line last month to Chase. I have been with them for 11 years and pay off the full balance off every month. They charged me $69 in fees last month of the late payment and would not remove the charges. I have a bunch of travel rewards on the card right now so I did not cancel it yet but I want to start using a new card. Any good deals out there for cards that offer rewards? I am not worried about interest rates because I pay in full each month. If your getting a good deal let me know.

I think most of them are comparable if you have a good credit score...1 point per $1 charged, 10,000 pts get you $100. I have one each with Chase and Schwab Bank. If you belong to Costco, they have a good deal featuring an American Express card if you spend enough to justify an extra $50/yr. over the regular membership fee. You get a Costco rebate (up to 3%) plus an Am Ex rebate sent automatically.

I've been screwed exactly the same way by Chase and also by MBNA. I think they are all the same when it comes to customers like us that pay in full each month. Legal stealing is about the only way they can make any significant money off us. I carry a Shell Mastercard (Citi) and a Marathon Mastercard (Chase). On the Shell card I get 5% off on Shell gas purchases credited toward my next statement. I get the same 5% from the Marathon card, but I get it in the form of a $25 gas card each time I earn one. I think I get 1% on non-gas purchases. I like the way both of these work because I don't really have to jump through any hoops to get what I have earned.

I believe Charles Scwab is giving 2% back on all purchases to a savings/brokerage account you have with them.

I just closed a Chase account, due to screwing up. They don't give a damn about your business, because you pay them off at the end of the month.

Citi won't give me new credit cards, one for Hilton and the other for Shell saying that they couldn't verify that I was who I said I was, in spite of the fact that I already had 2 cards through them. I too pay them off each month. Credit cards is not where you want to borrow money from.

I agree that the American EX from Costco is the way to go. I don't really spend all that much in a year but last year I got $80 from Costco and $400 from AE. I also found a Capital One card that doesn't have an annual fee, and NO international 3% fee and it has miles, which IMO is a joke anyway.

I use my Costco AE for everything.

I have used my Discover card for almost 25 years and never had a problem. They even gave me a break a couple of times when my payment was late. I always pay it off every month as well. I get in the neighborhood of $500 every year in their cash back program that I normally just apply as a payment.

Since I'm a Chevy truck fan I use the GM Mastercard. It pays 5% up to $500/year. Max carryforward is 7 years. I've saved $7,000 on my last 2 trucks. No annual fee, but the intrest rate sucks...you need to pay it off each month.

1. I would suggest calling them again and again! Ask for chargesto be removed. If you get a "NO" ask for a supervisor. Their policies may have changed, but on the rare occasions this has happened to me i have been succesful.
2. I understand that you should never "Cancel" a card. Just stop using it. Apparently cnaceling adversely affects your credit score.
