Any advice on repainting previously painted brick walls?

I want to freshen up the appearance of one of my washes that previously has had the brick walls painted white. I am thinking of going either a tan or maybe grey. Any input on a good paint for this application? I am looking for first hand knowledge please. I am aware of Cool Wall paint and also that there are other brands of this type of paint out there. Sherwin Williams recommended an epoxy paint for longevity but said it will chalk with UV exposure. I am looking for something that will last several years and be somewhat easy to clean. Thanks in advance for any input.

Don't paint go with Extrutech paneling you will be glad you did.

Where are you purchasing it? How much is the cost?

I prefer FRP with Pebble finish for SS bays. won't dent like extrutech type products and graffitti artists can't carve on it very easily.

I agree with Earl about the dents and holes that get into the Extrutec but I really hate the look of FRP. Next time I replace wall panels I intend on using Polymax panels for the lower 4' and Extrutec above that. Most of the holes I have in the Extrutec panels are below waist level and I think this will solve the problem.

BUT back to the OP's original question...Have you considered solid color concrete stain? I had an exterior wall covered in graffiti that I stained a brown color to match the brick. Still looks good about 10 years later but this is an outside wall not in a bay. At the very least I don't think the stain would peel and come off in sheets like paint tends to do.

The walls are painted already so I'm not sure stain would do me any good. I would love to do extrutech and face the end columns and er with stone or faux stone but that is pricey. The wash has only been reopened for 3 months and it took a lot of cash to get there. The current paint is at least 12 years old and, considering its age, is holding up better than I would have imagined. I want to do a color change or something that shows the public that the place is improved and run well again. Feedback from current customers is good but I am sure there are folks who have not had the best experience there in the past. I need to send a clear message that this is a well run place now and appearance will go much farther than flags and new wands and brushes.

I’d stay bright white whatever way you go. My bays were originally painted with sherwin williams marine paint. I repainted with their epoxy about 5 years ago. Both seem pretty good for block...though I have one bay with recent excessive pealing I think my painter got lazy on cleaning that bay. If your current paint still looks good, just cleaning may do the trick
