Cost of a Stand alone Dog Wash Unit?

I don't know the price, but we have a K9000 dog wash. https://k9000dogwash.com/ We are in Victoria, Australia. Not sure if these or something similar is available where you are. These are very low maintenance and bring about 50% the revenue of one our self serve bays. We would highly...

    First Week In

We own and operate a 3 bay SS in a town of 1500 people with some surrounding farms etc. So a 4 bay SS in a town of 10,000 people sound pretty good to me. The site presents really well. I agree that some low pressure functions would likely be a good addition. We have tyre & engine clean, bug...

    Trashed Bays

I think we all draw our own line about what is "acceptable". We have an unattended wash in a rural location, near to many 4WD tracks. So mud, hay and manure are all just part of life for us. But from time to time we have had paint and grease all over a bay, which has been a huge headache to...

Where are you and what are your prices?

Victoria, Australia. In Australian dollars, $1 = 1 minute, 30 seconds.

What are you going to accomplish at your car wash this year?

Tidy up our landscaping. Get the bays painted to freshen them up. I keep saying "When I have time..." but that doesn't happen, so we will hire a painter. Keep our clean up staff, who have been excellent.

Rinse normal, soap and wax selection causes loss of pressure

We find this in automotive air conditioning systems. Will leak under vacuum but not pressure, or vice versa. Makes diagnosis tricky. Well done on finding this one, and nice job from all those that provided knowledge and guidance.

Poll: Owning a self serve is….

I voted "easier than I imagined", but only just. And it's only after about 5 years when we finally have everything operating how we would like, and two good staff that help with clean up. Up until recently, I probably would have voted "harder than I imagined".

New to industry - 4 bay SS purchase

This is the key consideration - after all costs, including loan repayments, is there enough left over to justify both the capital you have invested and the time & effort you put in?

    Car Wash, Samoa style

We are heading off to Samoa later this year, and have been on a Facebook group that shares holiday tips etc. One provided a recommendation for an excellent car wash / detailing business. The photos are a reminder of the simple, uncomplicated way of life in the South Pacific. As you would...

    What was your worst customer?

A guy that I knew well, and was due to play sport with, on the same team just a few hours later, left me with a bay full of maggots. A few harsh words were exchanged.

Just received a site analysis... thoughts?

I would be extremely hesitant to make business decisions based upon an analysis prepared by someone with as vested interest in you deciding to go ahead. I think you are right to get lots of other information to help assist in your decision. I would tend to assume that analysis by an equipment...

    Direct injection question for self-service

I tend to think that systems usually end up how they are because of lots of trial and error, by lots of people. From my perspective, I would much prefer to stick with something that works reliably throughout the industry rather than putting lots of blood, sweat and tears into developing...

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

We're not particularly busy, only a small wash in a country town of 1500 people. The pits are small (900mm x 900mm x 900mm) but I'm not about to install bigger ones!

Doyle vacuums with pleated cartridge filters

I shovel mud from pits 4 days per week, so cleaning vac filters is my "easy" job! We just seem to be a particularly dirty wash.

    New income streams

We have a K9000 dog wash, and it is a really good part of our business. Revenue is about 50% of our average SS bay, and is much, much less maintenance and clean up.
