    CryptoPay/ACW4 is spontaneously loading washes

We did replace the relays with new ones, and we replaced the entire wiring harness from the ACW to the pump stand. We also replaced and switched out buttons to make sure that wasn't the issue. After we figure it out I will post here, to save somebody several weeks of frustration if it happens...

    CryptoPay/ACW4 is spontaneously loading washes

We have several CryptoPay swipers on Hamilton ACW4/5 on our in-bay automatics. Occasionally the pay station will simply send a signal to load a wash for no apparent reason (we confirm this with cameras and personal observation...). We chalked this up to a fluke and have learned to live with...

Things I did to save money last year

I purchased and rehabbed a wash ten years ago that was part of the Super Wash chain. The floor heat was always set to turn off 8 hours at night with a 2 hour run from 12 - 2, per the directions in the Super Wash operators manual at the time. I left it that way, and have never had any problem...

Things I did to save money last year

What did we all do to save money last year? I'll start: We put timers on the boilers, shutting them off from 9 pm to 7 am (we shut the floor heat off from 8pm to 12am and 2am to 5 am). Anybody else have some ideas?

    Doors ext. mount freezing

Has anyone mounted Wyndstar roll-up doors or any other roll-up doors with the exterior mount in a cold/harsh climate. I have limited bay length and need to mount the doors outside, but I'm worried about freezing issues.

Help with electric rail heat cost

I have noticed my electric bills at my iba/ss washes go way, way up in the winter, even though we wash fewer cars. I wonder if the biggest part of it is my 12-gallon electric rail and trough heaters? I have one location with gas rail heat, and the electric bills there don't go up so much in...

So Robert, what sort of ebitda are most guys seeing these days for, let's say, a clean 2 iba / 4 ss doing $200k sales per year?

SS/iba profits; what is your goal?

What is your goal for profits/cash flow at your your ss/iba (I'm talking about the cash left over after all expenses, before you pay income tax, rent, or debt)? So if you owned the wash and had no debt or rent, what would you take home before income taxes? Years ago I remember guys shooting for...

    Changer emptied...strung?

My Hamiltons got hit...the wires are tightly secured w zip ties and sheathing. I real dont see how they could have accessed the wires. and then there is the folded charred bill? my other 4 locations all have mars validators and they have never been compromised.

    Changer emptied...strung?

Thanks for input...the wires have sheathing and there is no evidence of tampering with wiring, and the service light is still intact. I will try a GFI outlet. desc: 2 white guys 20s, scruff beards, tennis shoes, one heavy the other small build smoker, silver 4-door sedan parked off-site...

    Changer emptied...strung?

Both my hamilton changers were emptied...only 3 or 4 quarters left in each hopper. The cameras showed a guy with some sort of black hard object about the size of a slim flashlight. He kept maneuvering the object near the bill acceptor while his buddy took the quarters. I found a charred bill...

    Sales Expectations?

You're smart to be cautious. But maybe some of the local operators passed because they're not in the mood to risk their capital (or they have lost their appetite for carwash risk). Some good info. to have would be: numbers from the digital or mechanical counters on the autos and self serves...

2009 In Review – A record breaking year

Many SS/IBAs in small towns away from Express Ext. are still doing o.k. (except in overbuilt markets).... In bigger markets with EE competition, the neighborhood IBA/SS could see a renewal if someone develops a truly good, fast friction machine that can fit into an old IBA bay. That would...

2009 In Review – A record breaking year

I agree. 2005 may be the last good year for awhile. There may still be some opportunities if you buy a distressed wash, rehab, and have a tax angle to increase your return etc.... Even then you will have to minimize leverage to prepare for unexpected government intrusion (e.g. property tax...

Dont Get Screwed by the Phone Company

same story... I had similar problems with my phone company (it rhymed with "Verizon"). The cable company brought service to my area and I finally switched to them...for half the price and better service...found out I'd been paying unnecessary add-on fees for years.
