Even though there is paint made specifically for PVC I'm sure its not formulated to withstand a car wash environment. I'm willing to bet it wouldn't last and turn into a maintenance nightmare. And regarding wrap the tunnel. Lots of car wrap manufacturers say to avoid car washes. My guess is...
Do you have more than one machine? If so you could swap and see if the issue follows the board. If not I would order a rebuilt board, RDM had them last I knew.
We have a small vending machine selling car care products as a customer service. After accounting for parts/maintenance and labor to maintain it just about breaks even.
Motor is just part of the equation, because of the high RPM's you really need to make sure the turbine is not damaged and balance is maintained during removal and install of the turbine. Also make sure the turbine has no cracks. I'd highly suggest just buying the upgrade as much as the cost sucks.
I maintained G5's for a bit. Have you tested the motor to insure its not another component? Also we had frame mounted machines and I used a chain fall to remove and install blowers.
Make sure your finances are in order. Then get experience in whatever business you think your interested in, there is always more to a business than it looks from the outside.
I can make a strong argument that Vermont is right up there regarding business friendly, just google ACT250! But I do believe the juice may not be worth the squeeze due to traffic count alone.
Panel install is easier than FRP. That said when I started in the wash industry the wash I was at had FRP that was 10 years old. We now have Panels, and I find the 10 year old FRP cleaned easier than 2 year old panels.
I know I'm probably an outlier here but I much prefer FRP over panels...
