I have about 20 feet of drip space, my final rinse is a rain arch.

    Flash Drying

I have 8 15HP sonny's blowers with inlets facing exit (motor facing entrance). They have been there for over 10 years, Yes I have replaced motors, but not every 6 months! I would say the average life was about 5 or 6 years some longer as I just replace 2. I believe 1 motor is original. I...

Vacs $3 - 5 minutes.. Should have done it sooner..

I did the same thing a couple years ago. New Vacs, dollar bill acceptors, $2 for 5min., no complaints. I instantly doubled my monthly vacuum income.

    Vac/Vending Dollar bills only

I will continue to accept their quarters all day long but I will have all my machines be able to accept bills (my Vacs already do). I will eliminate my change machine and put in a bill changer. So if a customer happens to come in with a pocket full of quarters, fine I will be more than happy...

    Vac/Vending Dollar bills only

Waxman I never thought you were against me! I appreciate your input and everyone's input on here that's why I asked the question. I am just thinking people are stuck in the rut of paying for Vacs with quarters, so that is why they do it. We are all creatures of habit. I just don't think they...

    Vac/Vending Dollar bills only

Ok, How about I split the difference with you. I continue to accept quarters in my vacs but swap out my change machine with a bill changer. So at least I am not an enabler. ???

    Vac/Vending Dollar bills only

I am thinking of going to dollar bills only for my vacs and vending. My Vacs already accept bills so I would just need to replace my vendors with something that would accept bills. I realize some would be concerned with not being able to change prices in quarter increments but that doesn't...

Minimum Wage increase and Regulatory Threats

Sam I am 100% reclaim, closed loop = hard road! Again if you have a sewer hook up that is great. That means you don't need to be closed loop. It will be much easier for you. Reclaim can be expensive but again it depends on how much you want or are forced to reclaim. As far as prices..We...

Minimum Wage increase and Regulatory Threats

Sam, I am in Mass, I am an owner /operator, I reclaim/recycle my water and I pay over minimum wage. I am going to start of by saying the biggest problem is what rph9168 has in his signature block. "All car washes are the same, they are different." What may work for me, very well may not...

    Replacing front of conveyor

Sorry this does not answer your question but I need to re-deck or re-plate my Sonny's conveyor. Can you give me a estimate of cost per foot? I understand their are many variables just trying to get an idea of cost. Thanks

    Air compressor...single or two stage?

I would be more concerned with CFM than PSI. Obviously it all depends on what you are running with the compressor to determine the appropriate size. You don't want your compressor running constantly trying to keep up. I would go larger than you think. If nothing else this will allow for...

Phase out or reduce perk on loyalty punch card....dilemma

I would phase the punch card out. When they are used up do not hand out new ones. Your wash books and unlimited passes should be enough. We wanted to focus on our unlimited passes so we priced everything to make it the best deal. We still have Pre paid wash cards buy 6 get one free and buy...

    Minimum wage

    light show

Years ago we did a haunted car wash. The tunnel was dark with strobe lights, black lights etc. One year I took those glow sticks that you break to make glow, (they were the long necklace ones) and slid them in the empty c channel of my cloth hubs. Not as bright, and only lasted a couple hours...

How much is everyone getting for their vacuums?

We replaced all of our Vacs about a year and a half ago. Our old vacs were tired, coin only 2 motor vacs. We replaced them with 3 motor vacs with dollar bill acceptors and digital read out. We were 1.00 for 4 min like you for 12 plus years. When we put new vacs in we went to 2.00 for 5 Min...

    McNeil & Co Insurance

Yes I have them as well. They actually came in just a little lower cost than my last Ins. co. But more important they know our industry. I would recommend.

    incentive pay Help

Ok... I have a exterior car wash with 2 attached detail bays with 2 detailers. Detailers are expected to help in wash when car wash is busy or detailing is slow (think winter, all hands on deck) Problem -Detailers currently make hourly rate with no motivation to work faster/ more efficiently...
