In Bay vs Express exterior/Mini Tunnel

Thanks for the input, I would rather not disclose the location at this time. I have done quite a bit of homework on this one and really just wanted to get some feed back. I am confident a higher end EE / flex will work well here. The IBA was an easy fit for the property, just not for me.

    Need Some Input....

There are a few operators looking at the site. I owned a full serve for a few years, just never a EE. I think the site is still ok, with that being said I think the egress is a real problem. I also feel for the amount of money it will take to buy and build, the site is questionable. I have seen...

In Bay vs Express exterior/Mini Tunnel

I would like to thank everyone for all their help. Your input has been very helpful. This site will work well with a small tunnel, I am looking at 75ft, with a few vacs and a small area for express detail. I wish it was bigger, but the area is great and this type of service should do real well...

    Need Some Input....

I agree, the car count can not be used due to the egress. I was thinking the same thing, cut it in half. The site is good, I just don't think it will produce the numbers I need for that kind of investment. Scary dems, alot of the cars in the area don't have much paint on them.

It's a bit of a commuter Rd. The D.O.T has the number at 45,000 in a 24hr, and it natturally gets heaver during the morning and eve. There are some pretty good roof tops, 5000+ pop within a 1 mile and 65,000 within a three. The site is near a light, the drawback is you can not make a left into...

In Bay vs Express exterior/Mini Tunnel

That's just it with the mini tunnel you need more labor. I think the building cost is also higher with the tunnel as well. When I run the numbers and add in the extra cost, it seems the IBA's are the way to go. I was just concerned about throughput. I don't think there are going to be any EE...

Pei, It will be a twin bay site. I am just making sure that the twin bays can produce these numbers. I know of an operator that claims he has washed 250+ cars in one day with two IBA.

Cap, thanks for the response. I am looking at a very similar set up. How many cpd are you able to thru these machines? My proforma came back pretty strong, 130 cpd 1st year to upwards of 160 cpd year three. I think it was like 41,000 cpy 1st year to 51,000 cpy 3rd year and beyond, can these...

New to car washing, and would like some input please.

There are many things to consider, throughput is very important. The PDQ equipment is very good, the Tandem is arguably the best friction IBA on the market. The on board dryers suck on all these machines. design your bay around 50ft long, put dryers at the end of the bays and you will be able to...

I am looking at a site to build a large EE, 120ft 25+ vacs, I am not sure if the Manufactures proforma is accurate. Does anyone have info on this ? I have a large piece of property 1.4 acres. Great visibility, pretty good dems 65,000 3mile pop, 45,000 car count in front of a Wal-Mart, light...

In Bay vs Express exterior/Mini Tunnel

I am in the process of building a car wash and would like some feedback. I am not new to the business, I owned a full serve a few years back. I have a small location, in a great area. 30,000 CPD 70,000 pop 3 mile rad, no comp, very busy shopping center. Should I go In Bays, or Mini Tunnel? It...
