    New Construction Single Automatic

IMO if you have good traffic and not a lot of competition, Waxman had a great point with the mini-tunnel. You should be able to cycle 40-50 cars per hour with a good mini-tunnel set up, minimize labor, and knock 'em dead. A laserwash would only allow for 15-20 cars per hour at best. 140K-150K...

    New Construction Single Automatic

We do about 80K gallons per month. We sell washes between a 1/28 to 1/56 per gallon ratio (depending on time of year). We offer $1.00 off washes with 8 gal or more fuel purchases, 2 for 1 washes with fuel on Sundays, and other various programs to help drive volume. We run one touchfree and one...

    New Construction Single Automatic

Del, I run two IBA's at my station, and for the amount of money the your project costs, whether you go "cost-effective" or not, you have to make the committment to make it a profitable, stand-alone business. It would take a LOT of fuel and inside sales to make up for a $300K - $400 investment...

    Fusion X question

Wouldn't be the first time a sensor has done me wrong. I'll investigate.

    Presoak Chemical Issues

Diamond - any luck switching chemicals? I have the "road grime blues" around here as well from touch free customers. Like you, if someone complains I just route them through my Softgloss, but I would rather have them satisfied with the wash they want instead of the one I want them to have.

    Fusion X question

My Softgloss XT profiles the truck and follows the contour of the truck cab as it would a car. The brush lowers in the back of the cab to bed-rail height and maintains that level.

    True Value

Having been smoked by a less-then-desirable distributor, I would definately look at manufacturer support as an important part of the equation. Theoretically, the manufacturer should be a more stable entity then a distributor, therefore a longer-term source of support.

    Touch/touchless auto

We have a Ryko Monarch Touchfree and Ryko Soft Gloss Friction that we bought with our business, and both were in rough shape. Both are getting older with 200K + washes on them, and NOW work pretty well. Up until five months ago we trusted our local Ryko distributor (Nationwide Carwash Systems)...

Is this a little confusing or am I just not too bright.

I think it's a great sign - for driving customers away FROM them and TO legitimate operators. Embrace those people! As far as gas stations giving away a wash with $20 worth of gas - all they accomplished was giving away the station's highest profit margin item for customers purchasing the...

    Indoor Self-Serve/Laundromat

Bubbles Galore - Thanks! As you mentioned, diversification is important, and I would not get involved if I couldn't do it right and keep it right. Some of the things I need to know is what is the per-machine average income per laundomat washer/dryer and what is the potential of an indoor 5-bay...

Is this a little confusing or am I just not too bright.

Looks to me like another gas station/car wash owner who doesn't read this forum. I wouldn't use a sign that doesn't tell the customer what "the Works" or "the Special" entails, and too many options confuses people anyway. Probably sounded good over a couple of drinks!

    Indoor Self-Serve/Laundromat

Bakeralvin - good point! I have considered self-storage and I'm not sure the ROI would support that facility. There is a 200 unit self-storage facility 2 blocks away from me as well. I was looking for something to increase traffic flow to my site, as well as give customers plenty of options...

    Indoor Self-Serve/Laundromat

Greetings! I am not new to the forum, but am new to posting. I have a question best answered by you guys. I own a 1.5 acre gas station in the center of a town of 70,000 in Minnesota (6 pumps, 2400 sq ft store, 2 IBA's) and there is a 5400 sq ft, nice looking building on 1 acre virtually in my...

    Gallons Pumped - Cars washed

Depending on the geographical location, your carwash counts can also vary hughly by season. My station has 2 IBA's (touchfree and friction) and ranges from a summer low of 1 wash/85 gallons to a winter high of 1 wash/25 gallons. If I were planning on selling 1 wash per 300 gallons I'd invest...
