Water usage is not a great way to estimate revenue unless you have a lot of detail. A couple things that can make a significant difference: weep in cold weather locations, RO units that take 2 or 3 gallons to make 1, varying tip sizes in the bays, leaks, pavement cleaning or even a seller...
We just attended the Southwest show and I am looking forward to the ICA show and NRCC this fall. You have to work a little harder to find the good self serve info among the flashing lights and bright colors of the tunnel stuff but it is there.
I would take a look at Ginsan as well. I prefer the push buttons to the rotary knobs. I think they make a better impression to the customer.
It looks like you have D&S in there now, it might be worth talking to them, sometimes upgrading with the same company is easier than switching.

Sounds like your distributor might be getting something private labeled by Simoniz.
It is possible that it is just as good. It is also possible that your distributor worked out a way to get a cheaper product but charge you the same amount.
Have you noticed any change in quality?
David
I have a 10 year old Softgloss.
When the top brush comes down on the back of cars, it stays down and the machine aborts the wash. It washes SUVS with no problem, it only fails when the brush lowers on the trunk of sedans.
Any ideas what the issue might be?
David
That is a really broad question. You will probably get better feedback if you can add some clarification.
What did you like or not like about the Ryko?
Do you want faster? easier to work on? better distributor? better cleaning? touchless or softtouch?
There are some good machines out there...
Have you noticed the water level in the tank increasing overnight? That is the most common issue with a hydrominder, the diaphragm goes bad and lets water seep by slowly, filling the tank with water and diluting your solution.
The easiest way to check is to remove the hose from the eductor and...
If we believe our customers are the worst of the worst, our mind will always point out the facts that confirm our belief and ignore any evidence to the contrary. Eventually, we will drive off the good customers in our frustration over the bad ones and be left with more problem customers than...
It isn't as bad as Randy makes it out to be. Self service washing isn't guaranteed easy money but it isn't always a nightmare either. We have three locations and our stories are much less interesting.
The police are at our wash a lot but only because they wash their vehicles there.
Nayax is a good option on a WashSelect II.
It adds chip and tap to pay. The hardware is much cheaper than Unitec's modem and the processing fees are very good.
It uses the cellular network to process which does require a small monthly fee and it requires a little extra legwork to get it set...
You may be able to split the loan into two loans, an equipment loan and a real estate loan. I think the flood insurance would only be required on the building. That may lower the premiums although leave you with less protection in the event of a flood.
I have had the same problem with the Dema valve. Lateral pressure on the wire that connects the chain to the valve will make it stick open. Shortening the chain can help. Also, make sure nothing in the tank is pushing the float to the side.
I am starting to switch back to Hydrominders. My...
Tom Hoffman used to have a video on Youtube from his Wynantskill location but I just searched for it and didn't see anything. I'll get a video at my wash when I have someone with me to hold the camera.
The combination of pump and injectors can provide more volume and pressure than a flojet. This creates a better "show" and application from the gun, especially when a foam gun is used. It also minimizes the changeover times between chemicals.
Most importantly, my customers are using it more...
The pump is a potential failure risk, however I believe the slight risk is worth it.
It is a common pump, easy to get if needed. Having used similar pumps on both laser 4000s and RO systems, I have found them to be very reliable with a very low failure rate.
The customer experience in the...
I need some help from guys that know the Ryko Softgloss.
I am having two issues that I am sure are the same cause but not sure what the problem is.
Occasionally, the wash ends and the drive through blowers will start and immediately shut back down (3-5 seconds) The customer hasn't even had...

They grew out of Hoffman Car Washes in New York. Tom Hoffman Jr used to show up on this forum occasionally to share some of the cool ideas they have tried at their self serves.
Unfortunately, I don't think they have much information on their website about the SS version...
Check out InnovateIT. They have a complete self serve system using dema rocket injectors. I installed it just over a year ago at a 4 bay. The show in the bay is much better than flojets can provide. My customers love it and use the low pressure functions a lot.
When I was shopping...
