I may be purchasing a new IBA that has an American Changer included in the deal. The auto cashier is brand new in the box, but is a 2007 model. I believe that I will have to do some sort of upgrade to get it PCI compliant. Does anyone know what I should expect to pay for this upgrade...
I just bought 2 new cans for the front vac islands at my wash. I did have 4 open topped cans and the trash was overwhelming. I remember someone on this site saying that a top with a hole in it would cut down on the trash. I first installed my security cameras so I could catch anyone trying to...
My current IBA does around 7K cars/year. I don't have any features like super sealant, 3x foam, or a dryer. I really think the my IBA is hurting my business more than it is helping. But, it is really hard to justify the $100K price tag of a new machine if I can't make it pay for itself. I...
I have been approached about purchasing a used High Velocity machine. It was new in 2008 and has around 60,000 washes on it. There are a few things that I will have to have added like 3x foam, but it seems to be nicely equipped. I would like to know from some of you that have this machine...
I have caught people doing things I don't like and when questioned about it, they said that I didn't have a sign that said they couldn't do it. I always ask them what hours my half price happy hour is, and they can never answer. I then tell them that there is a sign in the bay that states...
Now for the real question....how well does it clean? Are you using Blendco/Turtle Wax products? I really like the 3x foam. Most of them you use don't put on much of a "show" in my opinion, but yours looks awesome. Can that machine do the 2 step pre-soak and a super sealant?
Thanks,
Lighthouse
I work nights from home and I'm certainly glad that I don't have internet at the car wash to stream live video or I would not get any work done. These cameras are addictive. Everytime I walk by the monitor at the wash, I have to stop and watch people in the bays.

Bypass valve? I will have to study things to see where that is even located. I'm tempted to call Huron Valley, but not sure if they have a tech support hotline or not. Guess it won't hurt to call.
Thanks,
My ProPack spot free machine from Huron Valley Sales makes a funny noise when the "proflush" kicks on to wash down the membranes. It sounds like a cavitation and really pulses the hose going from the procom pump to the first membrane. I don't remember it making this noise before, but the...
I started on the install today at the wash. I got the DVR and monitor where I wanted it and powered up. Just had enough time to get one camera up. I put it in the corner at the opposite side of the meter and at the far end of the bay, so it looks down across the car and to the meter. I drove...
Looks like the Air Lifts like I have. My motors and counter weights are all on the inside of the bay. Was there not enough clearance to put them on the inside?
Does anyone have a good source for some signs stating that video monitoring is being used. I want to hang something over each meter and a few other places around the wash.
Thanks,
Lighthouse.
I just bought one of the Q-See systems from Costco after reading this post. I bought the 16 channel with 16 cameras. I have one camera sitting in my desk and one screwed to the back deck of the house trying to determine if I am going to keep this thing. I'm concerned that I won't be able to...
I keep hearing everyone talking about these "cheap" express tunnels. In my town, there is an older full service tunnel wash, that you have to get out of your car and they hand vacuum and dry for you. It's around $30 for the top wash. A local car wash owner renovated an old express tunnel and...
I also have a Hamilton ACW attached to the same phone line. It worked flawlessly the entire time I had problems with the Etowah Valley meters. The reason though is pretty simple.
Your local phone company will not be able to find any noise on the line because their phone line is OK. My...
I had them letter my doors with "Car Wash Open". I believe that less is more. I had the letters put in the clear windows of the doors and as big as I could get them so they could be seen from the street. I have not heard any customers complaining that they didn't know the wash was open...
I had the same problem this spring. Drove me crazy for weeks. Call your phone provider and tell them that you want them to re-route your long distance to a different trunk. I fought with them for days, but finally got them to look beyond the local dial tone and work with the long distance...
I was told one time that a good way to do it was if you have 2 partners, then you pay each an equal share after expenses, but include the business as one of the partners. So 4 equal shares...25% to you and 25% to each of your 2 partners and 25% to the business.
