    Cryptopay customer confusion

Where I have Cryptopay, I use a count down method. Would get calls all the time about "you charged me $x", where x is the pre-auth amount. Changed that pre-auth to $2, calls have ceased. Where I have WashGear, I use a count up method. There I get calls on about the pending amount looking like...

    Cryptopay customer confusion

Remove the stop option from the dial. That’ll force the customer to look for a way to stop the charges. Then put a sign pointing to the cryptopay button. Too bad you can’t flip the green circle on the button to flashing red.

    Weep system

Agree with Randy, tough to troubleshoot something that’s not even close to standard. Check valve between source and solenoid? Wonder what the person who put it together was thinking.

    Unattended tunnel incident

Personally I say you really got lucky with this one. I wouldn't take the risk of a tunnel being open 24/7 and unattended. Surprised you haven't had more issues than this. I even shut down my IBA soft touch at night so I can sleep well knowing my equipment isn't touching a car that decided to...

    Weep system

What is controlling the solenoid? Just a thermostat? What is the output voltage of that device and what is the input voltage needed for the solenoid? Should say right on the body of the coil. Water always on, look on the side of the body of the valve or on the bottom, there should be an...

    Water softener needed?

Agreed, if you are 2 grains or less, you're soft. Consider yourself lucky not having to deal with a softener and the brine tank. More room in your equipment room!

Popularity of spot free rinse in SS bays

Spot free isn't just about being soft, it's about reducing the TDS value. Have you tested that? Typically you want that to be less than 50 to be considered spot free water. Evening after softening the TDS value doesn't really drop, you need to dechlorinate it (carbon filter) then squeeze it...

"Bonus time" vs. Cryptopay count up

Nope, it’ll still go to the max per swipe that you set.

"Bonus time" vs. Cryptopay count up

No, you have to call cryptopay to do it.

Add or Omit Bill Acceptors with New Combination Vacuums Purchase?

I agree with your thoughts, bill acceptance = ATM machine for vandals/thieves. If you had controlled access to your lot, attendant there during the day, and close a gate keeping people out overnight, then I would go with bill acceptance to capture more spend. If not, then I would consider...

    Cameras

Prices are all over the place for camera systems. Expect whatever you put out to get weathered and go bad after some period of time. Even if they are in a bay, or under an overhang, the elements will get to them. Maybe not direct rain, snow or ice, but the humidity, heat and cold can impact...

"Bonus time" vs. Cryptopay count up

If you're using CC for count down now and considering to switch to count up, make sure you think about the "pre-auth" amount. Whether you go up or down you have to pre-auth for a certain amount. When I first installed CC at one of my washes, I pre-auth'd for $10, and had so many calls about...

    Worth installing credit cards

If you are changing your meter boxes, I would suggest adding credit card acceptance over bill acceptance. I have crypto at one wash and WashGear at another. My cc fees year to date are 5.9% (WorldPay) and 6.4% (TSYS) respectively. Fees are just part of doing business, once they figure out the...

Is it just my SS wash, or...

I've considered (planning in my head) putting a occupancy sensor, siren, message board, and strobe light in each bay. If it senses an object in the bay and the meter hasn't been on for a certain amount of time, run the siren, strobe, and scroll a message across the board to either start the bay...

HP Pump pulsates bad on rinse, works fine on soap.

Interesting....not sure how adding a longer hose solved your problem. I would have thought the check valve was bad and restricting the flow of water to the pump causing it to cavitate.

What if foamy brush automatically turned on

I like the idea of killing all other bay functions when the brush is off the hook/switch. Take it a rep further to incorporate the flashing light/buzzer...when you have the brush off the hook and the select another function, then activate the light/buzzer with a sign that says to replace it or...

What if foamy brush automatically turned on

Locked to the wall - someone would just yank it, break it or bend it. Too much leverage with the handle and hose. Switch - great idea, would have to hold up to the overspray. Would take some customer training, or leave the function on the box and make an AND statement. functionBrush AND...
