What is my recourse in this situation?

Car Wash Guy, welcome to the wonderful world of being a car wash owner. What your talking about is pretty common in the car wash business. Most car wash distributors are nothing more than flyby night charlatans who will screw you faster than you can blink your eye. Most of the service...

    Fiar Market Value

We looked and bought a number of car washes over the years for redevelopment. The problem we’ve found is the owner has an emotional attachment the car wash and they are asking an unrealistic price for the property or they have no records to back up there asking price. Do you have records on the...

    SS Ceiling booms

We changed our overpriced Zierden 104 swivel cartridges out years ago and went to the Model 204 easy service boom with the seal elbow. Now when a boom swivel leaks it’s just matter of changing the “O” rings in the seal elbow. The boom arm is just 1” conduit.

Need Advice: getting whipped by Competitor's SS....

I don’t think some of you guys get it!! He’s in a small LOW INCOME town of 2900 people. That means that most people don’t have any disposable income to wash their cars or it’s not important to have a clean car. You could build the frigg’n Taj Mahal of car washes with all the bells and whistles...

My foam brush sucks - please help me improve it.

I’d be calling Blendco and have them come out and fix it. They are supposed to be the best soap guys, I know they are the most expensive. What is that white hose barb coming out of the right side of the gray block used for? If it’s open that could be part of your problem. It does look pretty...

Opinions on flush mount vending machine?

Why do you think you want to go with a Old Faithful they hold very little product. We’d never consider a Coinco validator or coin changer, MEI only, better quality. We have a couple of these vending AMS SlimGem machines and they work well http://www.amequipmentsales.com/slimgem.htm

    Rowe BA-50 service

We have a few Rowe bill changers that had the BA-50 validator installed. Do yourself a favor and convert them over to a Mars validator. 99% of your problems will go away. The acceptance rate and longevity are much better than the BA-50.

What are you currently doing for advertising?

These are some of the things that we’ve tried to do to bring in more customers: Radio ads, they didn’t work. Direct mailing, free car wash coupon, we sent out 1500 coupons, we got back 6, 4 where current customers and the other 2 wanted something for free. “A” board signs advertising today’s...

I don’t think most of you guys are getting the whole picture of what soonermagic is up against or you’re not reading the whole scenario. He’s in a town that is in nowhere Texas. It’s a dying town, population is down from 6000 to 2900. Soonermagic what town in Texas are you located? The area is a...

"Free" land! Should I build a car wash?

I couldn’t agree more. There’s no way I’d recommend getting into the car wash business. The best thing you can do is lease the property out to another business. There’s nothing better than mail box money.

    Erie hogs hair brush

We consider the cost of consumable goods, guns, wands, nozzles foam brush heads, etc. the cost of doing business. Yes those items have gone up substantially in the last year few years. Raise your price to compensate for the added costs of your consumable goods.

“If it’s not broke don’t fix it” Are you satisfied with the performance of the product? Does it foam well from the high pressure gun? What color tip are you using in your 511 Hydrominder? Is the product economical? How much does a 100 lb. box of this product cost? We use a powdered presoak from...

Advice on pumps, rebuilding pump stand

The best price we found on the Arimitsu 516 pumps is from Randy here on the Forum. He has a kit that comes with the 516 pump, “H” Bushing, Rails and oil. We reuse our pulley. You need the “H” bushing because the pump shaft is different on the Arimitsu 516 pump than it is on the Cat pump.

    Emeffing chargebacks!

If you read between the lines they are talking about the migration EMV chip cards. Has anyone heard of or know anything about a EMV reader for the self serve car wash industry? Are the mag stripe cards going to go away?

    High Pressure Hose

We use 3/8” Goodyear hose. We’ve got some 3/8” hose that is over 15 years old. The last one that broke came out so stiff it was like a pipe, it was made by a company in France. We use a 3/8” hydraulic crimper to crimp the ends on. I think we paid around $200 for it used, works great. We’ve...

Try a internal pipe wrench may be able to get it in and use a socket to break it loose I was kind of wondering the same thing. I've never heard of a internal pipe wrench.
