people don't wash when it's raining. most carwashes have a roof, so I'm not confused about my assertion that rain kills business; I'm basing my statement on 20 years experience owning my wash.
lets see what others here think..
My initial thought is that you will never make enough money from 1500 to 3000 people to support the cost of a new build. Let alone the high operating costs of being in such a cold climate as well as the fact that you said it rains year-round. When it rains nobody comes to the car wash.
I got a call in the detail shop at 5:15 Friday afternoon. The caller immediately started talking about some negative yelp reviews He had read about our business. I thought it was spam and was getting ready to hang up but he kept talking and it turned out he wanted to make a detailing...
yes I do have local competition. They are both friction washes. One PDQ machine and one D&S machine. They are both priced the same as me. $22 for the top package.
my town has a population of about 8000. I serve probably 20,000 people between two towns that I draw most of my customers from. It's a lower to middle income area. Mostly lower income. When I reloaded my automatic I raised the price on my top package by seven dollars. The percentage of top...
I think raising your prices depends largely on your competition in the area. I wouldn't waste money on new signs etc for a measley $1 price increase. Also depends on your %age per pkg. The more top pkgs you sell indicates price can go up.
I wouldn't engage in any negative advertising. I think it communicates weakness and desperation. Instead, focus on your strengths while fine tuning your own operation even more. Saying the competition scratches cars makes the whole industry look bad. There is a place for both friction and...
Detailing season is about to start! at my shop, things pick up around mid March. What equipment are you planning on updating or upgrading? I'm planning to buy some new airlines for my air tools. I'm also planning on switching from industrial style air couplings to automotive style. I don't...
Look inside your self-serve bays' electrical cabinet in the equipment room. Find the wire that comes from the bay ( that opens soap solenoid for that bay). Check the connection. Then follow that wire and check all connections for it inside cabinet.
I don't like the idea of being pressured by customers to have the car wash functioning 100% of the time. I know that is the goal in order to run a good operation and to make money, but let's face it things need maintenance and repairs. I can see myself getting very frustrated with indignant...
get the license plate number using your cameras and report them to the police. Where I am from that is a Crime that will get you labeled as a sex offender if convicted.
One thing I like about the razor is how easy it is to put the bay out of service using the Maintenance menu. I do that now whenever I want to do anything even if it's just scraping the mud off the drain cover. once it's put out of service from the PLC the cashier reads car wash closed. I did the...
I think you need to do a little bit more research on your own so you can come back with a more sensible question. You're going to be about a half $1 million just in the equipment for two automatics. You also have to buy a water softener, perhaps a spot free rinse system, a cashier, a change...
I have four choices with a six dollar difference between my bottom and a top package. I'm going to change things around a little bit this year and eliminate my wash that does not include underbody. I'm going to add a super premium package for the top wash with multiple passes and products...
