Five years ago so, 68 year old. I can't say for sure, but I believe it was original to the house which was built in 1950. I replaced it shortly after buying the house.

Once a month maintenance won't work with the 1 1/2 hoses. I have to check mine at least daily, usually two or three times, to keep the smaller, longer hose from getting plugged.
I'd go RFID over license plate readers, or both for redundancy. People will figure out you're using a plate reader and start switching plates. Good RFID stickers will break when they're moved from one windshield to another.
