I agree with Mac about only using the soft water for RO and presoak (at the very least). The single tank regenerating at night can work, you just have to make sure the clock on the softener is always correct. Any power outage will reset the clock and cause problems with regeneration times. My...
Most RO systems have a softener, prefilter and carbon filter. Ryko had a small metal device that would replace a softener if the water was not to hard. all you did was clean it every so often. It was about the size of a candy bar.
six grains is considered moderately hard:
Soft Water- less than 1 gpg
Slightly Hard- 1-3.5 gpg
Moderately Hard- 3.5-7 gpg
Very Hard- 7-10 gpg
Extremely Hard- over 10 gpg
Sounds like you could go with a smaller system. You will want two tanks unless you can always regenerate at a time when there is no water being used. Two tank systems are used in car washes so you always have soft water, when one tank is regenerating, you are running off the other tank.
I would agree with Chiefs! This is the only way presoak should be used in a tunnel, presoak and then HP rinse. Anytime presoak is used, it needs to be rinsed off with high pressure.
You could spray the tires with chemicals as the car drives in and then use on board turbo nozzles to spray the entire side of the car during the wash. Lots of ways to do it.........
Even though our systems do not have "filter bags" (that does sound gross) to clean, I would also go with fresh water. I have seen people install reclaim just to avoid a high sewer tap in fee only to turn off the reclaim system soon after the wash is open.
Your wash does not need any dwell time since it is a brush machine. Dwell time is for the presoak on a touchless. I would just use high pressure. You could apply tire cleaner as they drive in instead.
You could make your own since it will have to be adapted to your wash anyway. Do you want the cars sprayed as they drive in or would you rather it to be one of the wash cycles? A stationary side blaster at the entrance of the bay would be the easiest and cheapest way to go.
We have been using foambrite for over ten years now with very few problems. I have only heard of two instances were some one thinks it scratched a car (both cars were black). Foambrite is a closed cell polymer so no dirt or water can get trapped in the material. Quality filament poly propylene...
No baffles in my septic tank and its only a few years old. Like I said if the system wont work with out baffles then you need baffles. We have only used the Ryko and Pur clean systems, neither of which require baffles.
Never used them in 20 years of installing hundreds of reclaims. Why use them if you dont need them? Do you use cyclonic separation? How many reclaims have you installed Robert, how many do you maintain and repair? You two are like peas in a pod..........
Not here to argue, just never needed...
No they were just sold a bill of goods they did not need. There are thousands of working reclaim systems in operation without baffles. Why waste money on unneeded components?
