    views on iba life expectancy

I agree with the above responses. I have a very good IBA which will have washed at least 18500 this year. It does have lots of idle time. But it is old - 30 years this February - old technology, looks old, uses tons of water. I am looking to replace soon hoping to increase count and profit...

    Regulators

I am sure both are very equal to each other or even the same item just a few changed by SMC to sell to KR. I use the SMC and do not have many problems. The only other regulators I have used are the US Paraplate. They work well to but design of unit is different from SMC's.

    The value of my wash.

I see many posts stating to raise prices, make more money, stop giving away your service. I post my price/time for info only- not bragging rights. . Newbies get on here and when they see some of these time/price structures that they must do it or die. This is not the case. There are many...

    The value of my wash.

" my research suggest self-serve operators should be charging at least $0.75 per minute ($3.00 for 4-minutes). This price would provide the potential for normal profit" Robert, what do you consider "normal profit" for self serves?? Still at $1 for 2:04. Business has never been better...

    LED - Again

I have 4' HO florescent fixtures and considered the tubes from KR but their price was way out of line. It would take me about a grand per bay to install. I am now looking at these. I am getting a fixture coming to check out...

    Handi-Clam Pit Tool

I need to have your pumper come see me, I pay 2k two to three times a year to pump one of my locations - 6 bays. Each bay pit is 5.5' x 3' x 8' . My other wash is half that (half the mud) . What's the size of your pits?

Better way to mount mat clamps?

There was a company called Raco who franchised the Spot Not Carwashes that was based from Joplin. They used a stainless panel the clamps were attached to and the panel was bolted to the wall. You can do the same thing. Use a standoff, I make mine of stainless pipe cut to length, on the bolts...

    Hose size, attic.

I have 3/8 in trough and 1/4 from the end of the boom to gun. I had too much pressure loss with the long 1/4" runs.

Residual soap during HP rinse in SS bays

Did this issue just start or has it been around for sometime? I assume it didn't happen with the previous soap? Did you just start using this soap? Is your rinse hard or soft water?

    Changing to tokens

I only have rowe 1400 changers (4). I like them very much with a couple exceptions. The bill acceptors need to be cleaned !!constantly!!. You can go with the mars acceptor, however I am told that the bucket escrow usage is bypassed with the mars acceptor. I really like the escrow system. It...

Why is no one excited about floor mat cleaners

I don't have one but I have a great struggle with the price of the units. I also do not think enough of my customers would use it for a reasonable payback - if there is one. I'm not willing to risk the purchase to find out. I have ss washes.

Credit and debit card start up charge

You will also have the customer who calls and says he didn't press the button for more time so you will be refunding the $1 & $2. Lately I have had a rash of people contact me for refunds--- falsely. One guy said his cc stmt showed a $30 charge for a $3 use. I said show me the stmt and I have...

    Caulk on a roll???

The strip caulk may not be pliable enough to work with to properly seal the crack that you are trying to seal and I'm not so sure it would look neater than taking some time and effort to use some caulking as stated above. If you decide to use caulk you may need to do this project with more...

Floor heat has plugged up zone

I agree with Kevin, work from the end of the tubing run, but I might go with liquid at about 50# to 75# of pressure. I feel that the air pressure may leak around the plug and the liquid provides more substance to push the item out. If you are getting liquid out of the other end crank up the...

    Caulk on a roll???

This is backer rod to use with caulk. Backer rod comes in multiple diameter sizes. The rod is stuffed in a deep or wide crack and then covered with the caulk. It is used so you are not filling the whole crack with caulk. (sorry, didn't read far enough before posting:) Again, sonolastic...

    Caulk on a roll???

sonolastic caulk. it is like toothpaste - a bit stiffer- for walls. Try the local concrete store. works great. I know of a company who fills their wall holes with this stuff and then paints it to match the color of their walls...

    Wash Card

Car_wash_guy, Put the bay systems out of order so the customer isn't trying to use them and becomes irritated at you for equipment not working. Put laminated notes on the boxes stating that the Credit Card Network is down or something like that. Put the blame on someone else. This way hopefully...

    Wash Card

WashCard customer for 5 years for 2 locations. Yep I have had some issues however WC has always taken care of my issues. They also take care of the PCI compliance issue. As for cards not reading, check the pigtail at the cardreader. Make sure there is not any corrosion at the plugin. I have...
