I'm the numbers guy at our car washes. What I do is very light fare. I don't turn wrenches. I don't know most of the part-times and attributes to said parts. I have gotten into some wrestling matches with the computer aspect.
Hardest: We had a cash register for our gas station/car wash. The way...
That's really cool. I remember about a decade or so ago when I went into a filing cabinet in my parents' basement and found 1990s records. My mind was flooded back with memories.
My guess is that nothing is too strong of a word. While the doors and the 4000s are linked, there apparently is a way to use Wi-Fi to open and close doors without having to be on-site.
Outside of the increase in credit card usage, I can't say I see any other tangible differences. I'm of the opinion that the public sucks and has sucked constantly during my lifetime. Car clubs brought with them different jerky things. Online reviews allowed jerks in general to go the keyboard...
Our waxes are cold. We have Lemon Glo coming out of the main gun. One of our washes has triple foam wax coming out of a separate gun. Lemon Glo is high pressure. The triple foam I would describe as low pressure.
That's what I find, too. Most people who come onto the lot figure they're going to spend the minimum, although they end up spending more. Let's say I had a customer who spends $7 at the self-serve. If I were to hypothetically switch the pricing to $5 for unlimited time, they wouldn't like it...
When inflation started picking up earlier in the year, we went from $3 for 3:40 to $3 for 3:12.
Now is definitely the time to raise prices. When we raised our membership for the start of the year, that was the least complaining we had ever received. People get it. Finally.
I look at a cashless society as being part of something bigger: automation. Automation means brick and mortar businesses and less workers out on the roadways. That's not good for our industry.
And also, our merchant processing can control us even more. One of the things I've noticed is the lamenting of how our subscription services and equipment are limited to a particular merchant processor. It sucks. Who here like Worldpay for Cyrptopay?
Your system might have a loyalty program on it. I'd check into that first. If not, the gift card method would work.
I know the Sierra Server system under Unitech has the capability. It can be done through cards, RFID stickers or codes. We don't do it because the customers have wanted the...
They're just caught up in the moment and not thinking that at some point, there will be a lean time. So many places take for granted the customers will always be there at their convenience.
Those who want a cashless car wash do so because they look at being cashless as more convenient, theft and safer.
Do I believe that? In my case, no. I've spent way more time dealing with credit/debit card matters than I have with cash-related matters. I've dealt with far more card outages than...
