I tried the deep blue for a little bit several years ago. If a white car comes through that is chalking and never been waxed, it will leave a blue tint in the paint.
They may have changed the formula, but it's something to be aware of.
It's not a problem having it hard wired, so long as you have access to the breaker.
Not like you would be unplugging it on a regular basis for any reason is there?
I personally believe a well-maintained friction does a better job.
I have a touchless. It does a pretty good job on over 95% of cars, depending on how well they take care of them (it won't perform miracles).
I have a bunch of regulars with high end cars that will not use a friction wash...
I've seen cycle counters connected to the start output of bay timers. Pretty easy to do, and it would get you close, but as mentioned above, how will that info help you?
Any easy way to get a good idea, is to average your credit card sales, then divide totals sales by the average.
I could make good $ off a pet wash where I am located, but I have no interest in cleaning up after people and their pets.
Same with a truck wash for me. I have a 2 acre lot, and near a lot of industry. I would not want to clean up after trucks, and the junk they leave behind.
You also need to...
Our police are pretty helpful. They were there about fifteen minutes after I called and had the owner on the phone within a half hour. So it was gone less than an hour after I called.
The funny part was the guy arguing with me and the officer that he should be able to keep it there, "it is...
And by the way, open up that solenoid valve, if the seats are good you can get a rebuild kit for a few bucks.
Also, the water should have been coming out of the wand, not in the ceiling, so you need to fix those leaks before putting that bay back in service.
Looks like you have some work ahead of you. In your first pic, you see the rust on the reducer fitting. Someone used a steel fitting. You don't want to do that. The smallest piece of rust will stop at your wand nozzle and piss off your customers. There is also a galvanized fitting. I wouldn't...
Yes, just another fun time. In my area, they have "annual Inspections". It is a $50 charge on top of your regular sewer bill. I had several years when they did "semi annual" inspections and tried to charge me both times. You need to be aware of the codes and don't be afraid to speak up.
When you buy a backflow preventer, make sure you get one that will flow your required GPM. They are not all created equal. You can probably get a POS one for $600 or 700 that may last a few years before puking on the floor, but a good Watts 2" is about $2k.
Very surprised you didn't have to install a backflow preventer sooner. In most areas, they are required on even residential water supplies.
I have a 2" water main and 2" backflow preventer. I am required to provide testing for the preventer every 5 years.
If you do not have a preventer and add...
Not sure where your wash is located, but $1.50 for 4 minutes would have been crazy expensive here in 1977.
I got my driver's license the day I turned 16 in 82. The local carwashes were .50 for 4 minutes.
When I bought my wash in 2001, the price was 1.25 for 4 minutes.
I am now at $2.75 for 4...

This or the Lamb motor will work fine. Can't believe you have never had to replace one yet.
People at my wash use the air freshener pretty often. It looks like all the parts are there except the lines...
And yes, you need, or should have, heated water.
I keep mine for the auto wash water at 120 degrees for the presoak and wax. Self serve bays at least 85 all year round.
Maybe in Texas, you don't need to heat the water, but in the northeast you do if you want clean cars.
The original builder of my wash installed a Raypac 1,000,000 btu boiler for the water heating. It was grossly oversized. I pulled it and replaced it with two Takagi 250,000 btu units piped into the original 200 gallon hot water storage tank in a primary / secondary loop configuration with staged...
