NAYAX with Dixmor LED 6 Timer with Relay

LVWash

New member
I installed NAYAX readers and, aside from some minor programming issues, was able to get the NAYAX unit on my vacuum with a Dixmor LED 7 timer without too much difficulty. Once I got through to the right tech support guy, he was able to get my minor issue with that unit resolved right away.

However, my bay meters have Dixmor LED 6 timers and it has not been as straight-forward. As you will see in historical posts, the chips in the LED 6 units changed a few years back and the units now require a relay to work properly. After talking to tech support and multiple others at Nayax, I figured out this was my issue so I ordered the recommended relays. I installed them this evening and followed the wiring diagram. I initially wired up the input side of the relay and everything seemed fine (light on relay turned on and stayed on). I then connected up everything on the output side and there were a few buzzing noises and then the Nayax units shut down (not good - like something short circuited). I was able to get the Nayx unit to start back up but it now seems that the ground wires coming from the Nayax reader have a charge. If I connect the VCC wire to the DC+ terminal and the GND wire to the DC- terminal, nothing happens whereas before the light on the relay turned on. However, I can connect the VCC wire to the DC+ terminal and then connect to the DC- terminal directly to the meter box and the light on the relay then comes on. I am concerned that my Nayax reader may be damaged from something that wasn't working right with the initial wiring.

Has anyone else been able to successfully wire up a Nayax with a newer Dixmor LED 6 timer? Do you have any better or different wiring diagrams then the ones below? I am checking with a reliable contact at Nayax as well but I may not hear back until Monday with it being the weekend. I imagine that someone has encountered this issue before and am hopeful that someone can give me some advice. Can I ground the relay directly to the common wire rather than through the GND wire on the Nayax reader? If so, the relays seem like they will power up. However, I am concerned about doing more damage if I follow the wiring diagrams for the remainder of the terminals on the relay since the initial attempt did not seem to work so well (and may have damaged the Nayax units).

Thanks in advance!

Did you adjust the hi low jumper on the relay? I set mine to low
Good thing to check. I had a relay that either didn’t have a jumper on it when I got it or I lost it. Probably the latter, but it won’t do anything without it. I never tried it on high, but don’t think it would work there either.

Thank you! This was very helpful. I think that the polarity may have been reversed the first time that I installed the relays. I have the relays installed correctly now and it still doesn't work. I can't even get the relay lights to turn on. The Nayax reader still turns on and seems to function properly as does the timer, slug buster, etc. I am still able to properly operate the car wash with cash/coins.

The voltage readings that I am getting on the relay are:
Pulse 1 wire (In terminal): 12.5 V
GND wire (DC- terminal): 12.78 V
VCC wire (DC+ terminal:) 12.8 V
NO terminal: 0 V
COM terminal: 0 V

On the back of my Dixmor LED 6, I am getting the following voltage readings:
24 VAC HOT (orange wire - terminal 10): 25.83
24 VAC Common (green wire: - terminal 9): 0

Shouldn't I have a voltage reading on each terminal on the Dixmor LED 6?

It is built in on the relay see highlight. Can you show what relay you are using. Maybe you shorted the relay. Do you have a different reader to try. Are you doing count up or count down? The only reason for the relay is to allow to cancel time in count up. Hook green wire from reader directly to the LED 6 credit card input wire. It should function as a count up feature depending on your setting.or hook up to coin pulse wire if you are count down. If it works reader is good if not you damaged the reader.

Are you using a 5vdc or 12vdc relay? Relay in the pic you posted is 5vdc and the voltage reading you are getting at the relay is a little over 12vdc. If you are using the 5vdc relay, that would definately be a problem.

I think that I have it figured out. I have received a lot of good help from tech support. I will post an update after I get everything working this weekend.

1044.jpg1043.jpgi have it all working. You all were very helpful as was Nayax tech support/sales and Etowah tech support. Dixmor does not support the idea of using a relay but it does work. Just make sure that you don't short anything out when connecting it or it will damage the Nayax reader. I am very pleased with the Nayax units and the way that it is all working. If anyone ever needs any help, feel free to reach out. I am confident that I am have all of the troubleshooting possibilities figured out at this point. I really like the multi price options with Nayax. There are a few settings with the Nayax that are important in getting this all to work. Once that was figured out, it has been working great. 1029.jpg

Also, the screws on the Dixmor line up perfectly for mounting the relay to it.

HI LVWash.

I love this setup and it is exactly how we discuss setting it up at ICA and SWCA when an Operator is unhappy with count-up due to customers complaining about being overcharged (for not pressing the stop button well or because they saw the preauthorization charge). Your choice of multi-price with Bonus minutes eliminates both and likely will offer a higher average ticket then count up did.

Best of luck and please reach out to me at my contact below. I think we may have spoken but I speak to so many in Car Wash and cannot tell from the name LVWash and I want to ask you a few questions.

Thank you.

Harry
